24.01.2022 WE ARE STRONGER THAN WE BELIEVE, BRAVER THAN WE THINK AND LOVED MORE THAN WE KNOW! Pachamama is dedicated to strengthening our mental wellbeing. By spreading BLUE PAINT for the Blue Tree Project and the message that "its OK to not be OK", we can help break down the stigma thats still largely attached to mental health. Jayden Whyte played a practical joke on his father and painted a dead tree blue on his family farm in Mukinbudin in Western Australia. Tragically, Jayden ...took his own life 12 months ago after being released from the hospital twice in one day - the second and final time being at 11pm. In honour of their deep love for Jayden, his two sisters started The Blue Tree Project to help spark difficult conversations and encourage people to speak up when battling mental health concerns. Pachamama and Martin Jaine Sculptures support this valuable project with an 6.5 metre BLUE TREE sculpture situated in Pachamama's carpark to remind the 4,180 daily passers-by that 'It's OK not to be OK.'

23.01.2022 At Pachamama, WE TAKE THE HEALTH OF OUR CHILDREN very seriously. On Monday morning, we will be implementing wellbeing checks on all children (and their parent) attending Pachamama. This will involve taking temperatures using a non-contact infrared thermometre and excluding children should there be a temperature be presented of 38C or more. We ask for the understanding and cooperation of all parents during these challenging times, as slight delays may occur at drop off times.... We are also enhancing our cleaning procedures to include (among other things) sterilising all door handles and taps every 15 minutes during peak periods, and every hour otherwise. Pachamama is doing its best to help protect our families from the inconvenience (and health risks to high risk groups) that the COVID-19 has presented to the world. While the risk to children has proven to be minimal, our goal is to delay the spread of the virus into our families and educators for as long as possible. We kindly ask all parents to be supportive and patient with our initiatives.
22.01.2022 A small child awakes to find blackened leaves falling from her bedroom ceiling, threatening to quietly overwhelm her. 'Sometimes you wake up with nothing to look forward to...' As she wanders around a world that is complex, puzzling and alienating, she is overtaken by a myriad of feelings. Just as it seems all hope is lost, the girl returns to her bedroom to find that a tiny red seedling has grown to fill the room with warm light. The Red Tree, created by Perth artist Shaun Tan, is a book about feelings - feelings that can not always be simply expressed in words. It seeks to remind us that, though some bad feelings are inevitable, they are always tempered by hope.
22.01.2022 The Pachamama Creed, written and performed by two Chloes. Bravo!

20.01.2022 VEHICULAR VISTA - Pachamama's parking upgrade featuring our Blue Tree Project will be opened for use on Tuesday, ahead of schedule. Focusing on a healthy awareness of mental wellbeing, our 6 metre high BLUE TREE is a reminder to the 4,180 daily passers-by on Gladys Road that 'It's OK not to be OK.'. It is a reminder to talk about how we feel. It's a reminder of all those before us who didn't get the help they needed ... And it's a reminder to REACH OUT TO OTHERS to care and support and love.

17.01.2022 The ABC 730 Report filmed at Pachamama today for a 3 part series focusing on Australias job market in 2025. Should be interesting ... in a couple of weeks.
17.01.2022 It was encouraging today to see the West Australian correct last weekends report about erroneously ranking WA childcare centres. For 17 months, Pachamama held the sole position as ONLY centre in WA with ALL 7 Quality Areas rated as Exceeding the 2018 National Quality Standards. ACECQA released the 2019 Q4 National Quality Standards results revealing 2 more centres joining Pachamama in this position: Curtin University Early Childhood Centre and Dalkeith Early Learning C...entre. Pachamama congratulates these centres and commends their hard work! Being an Exceeding Centre means that in at least 5 of the 7 Quality Areas it can be proved that practice is: 1) embedded in operations; 2) informed by critical reflection; and 3) shaped by meaningful engagement. Congratulations to all 10 centres rated as Exceeding, especially the above-mentioned 2 centres additional to Pachamama with ALL 7 Quality Areas rated as Exceeding!
17.01.2022 This may answer the QUESTION MOST PARENTS HAVE about BEING CHARGED FEES when a childcare centre temporarily closes ... and guide Approved Providers about ingredient alternatives for favourite recipes during these challenging times. Thanks to Australian Childcare Alliance for facilitating this information with the ABC News.
17.01.2022 THIS MEANS EVERYTHING!
16.01.2022 ANNOUNCING Pachamamas 24/7 ESSENTIAL SERVICES CARE for parents working towards flattening the curve and rebuilding the nation. Pachamama is DEDICATED to helping families during these particularly challenging times. We understand COVID-19 pandemic has transformed duties and working patterns of many families. Employers are requesting additional (or abnormal) shifts to provide essential services needed to move our nation through the current challenges into eventual recove...ry. We understand parents are keen to work late hours and/or accept night shifts to assist but are restricted by childcares normal trading hours. And grandparents are no longer an option! We have listened and are happy to be a fundamental part of the solution. We will extend our trading hours to include a 6:30pm to 6:30am dawn-to-dusk session (in addition to our normal 6:30am to 6:30pm session). We will also open all weekend too. Of course, this initiative will be delivered with Pachamamas normal AWARD-WINNING and exceeding standards. Our regular beloved Educators will be involved so that our Pachamama kids will feel safe and secure during these extended times. Can you please contact Rocky on 9291-3666 or [email protected] if you believe this special limited initiative may be beneficial to you during these challenging times.
16.01.2022 More creativity in Pachamama’s new nature playground.
16.01.2022 ABCs 730 Report is airing a 3-part series on COVID-19s impact in 2025 on Australias jobs. Pachamamas participation is featured tomorrow, but some children appeared yesterday (Tuesday 11/8/2020) at around 7 minutes in the link below.
15.01.2022 On 13 August 2020, the 730 Report presented an analysis of the Australian job market in 2025 post COVID. Kristen McPhail, Director of Pachamama discussed the growth of early education based on increasing community needs and the inability to automate our important role in society.
14.01.2022 "THAT'S EXCELLENT! Good to see Pachamama being so proactive and not just waiting for government directive," wrote a parent about our first COVID-19 Wellness Check. We thank parents for embracing our initiative with enthusiastic support. Our goal is to minimise the risk of the Coronavirus affecting our families and larger Perth Hills community by keeping our staff and children as safe as possible and preventing disruption to their daily routines. Our Wellness Check includes, in addition to a basic visual assessment, a temperature check using a non-contact infrared thermometre. Should a child or their parent record a temperature of 38C or above, an absent day will be required.

12.01.2022 No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin or his background or his religion. People must learn to hate and, if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite. - Nelson Mandela

11.01.2022 We praise the swift action of our WA police with respect to a young child reported walking near Welshpool Road. Through our effective systems and procedures, Pachamama Educators were able to quickly determined and advised the police accordingly that the child was not from Pachamama. The child was located and safely returned home.
10.01.2022 Pachamama applaudes Prime Minister Scott Morrison (ScoMo) and his Federal Government (including Ken Wyatt) for the rapid response to the childcare industry in early April that saved services from closing in financial ruin. The childcare rescue package, when combined with JobKeepers, allowed Pachamama to minimise redundancies and continue serving our existing (and additional new) families during these deeply challenging times. It also allowed families to retain their valued ...positions in highly sought after services providing children stability through continuity of care. Pachamama is EXTRAORDINARILY proud of our employees and families' unwavering support, cooperation and teamwork to best utilise the rescue package and JobKeeper funds for continued employment and service, enabling us to maintain our Exceeding standards. It needs to be understood, though, that while childcare is free to families it is not free to providers. It has taken its toll financially ... but we understand we are not Robinson Crusoe in this area. Pachamama is struggling with over 30% of our Educators not qualifing for JobKeepers due to visa or casual requirements. Pachamama has dug deep over the past month to fund the implementation of JobKeepers and unfunded wages for the benefit of our entire community. The economy is now changing (once again), and this rescue package needs reconsideration. Families are returning to the workplace and our occupancy is approaching full capacity. A HIGHER SUPPORT percentage rate is needed, preempting the ability for employed families to again pay for their care. Pachamama believes this would assist with the COVID-19 economic recovery process. Pachamama has applied for the exceptional circumstances program due to our high utilisation of service hours, but was rejected WITHOUT ANY EXPLANATION whatsoever (consistent with all rejections). We find this response unconscionable.
08.01.2022 DETAILS OF PACHAMAMAs EXTRAORDINARY EFFORTS during these unprecedented times to support working families continuing to provide essential services for our community.
08.01.2022 ABC News features PACHAMAMAs WELLNESS initiatives stretching above and beyond our everyday health and safety practices. Pachamama is focussed on helping to stop the spread providing stability to children lives and allowing parents to work to supply essential services to the community for as long as possible. Deep appreciation to the Australian Childcare Alliance for working with the Federal Government and assisting childcare Service Providers through these unprecedented challenging times.

08.01.2022 SOMETHING IS VERY WRONG with The West Australian 'ranking' childcare centres. The outcome! On 2 February 2020, Pachamama was ranked 48 out of 1178 childcare centres in WA. Two weeks later, Pachamama is ranked 9 by the same journalist. From 48 to 9 in 14 days indicates deeply faulty methodology. We believe assessing and rating childcare centres should be done by the trained and qualified. They interview staff, review documents and observe practices in action. I'm sure ...we can work together to improve the system and clarify the process, but it is a far cry from sensationalised reporting to sell newspapers. Pachamama does not believe childcare centres can be ranked based on daily fees intersecting with an ACECQA rating. Each centre has dramatically different cost bases depending upon location, hours of operation, ages of children, Educator qualifications and experience, and services provided. It is irresponsible for a media outlet to insinuate that cheaper centres are better than those that have a higher cost base (and therefore need to charge more) because they may accept young babies, trade for longer hours, employ more qualified and longer serving Educators, accept special needs children with additional SNSS costs and incur higher monthly rent.
07.01.2022 NEWS FLASH ... FREE CHILDCARE for FAMILIES REGISTERED as at 3 MARCH 2020. More information from Pachamama soon when details are provided.
06.01.2022 Pachamama conducts Educator Open Houses to help reignite the passion of possibility amongst our colleagues knowing that sometimes being an Educator is draining and new ideas can kickstart energy. Saying this, we recognise that most of our 150,000+ Facebook followers live across the Nullarbor or overseas and cant attend an Open House. So for you we decided to write "PACHAMAMAITY. A BLOG.
05.01.2022 If our experience can PREVENT a tragedy, we'd like to help. At Pachamama, we have 5 buses attending up to 8 schools twice a day. Our drivers perform counting procedures when children board and disembark each bus. As an extra safety precaution, we implemented an additional procedure earlier this year. When the last bus returns, the driver walks around all 5 buses checking each seat and aisle from the outside as a double check. (Our Operations Manager will often leave a doll in a seat as a test.) A message confirming the completion of the final bus check is required to be posted on our WhatsApp communication as evidence. Please share this with other educators in hope that this extra procedure as an addition to our new transportation requirements may help avoid any further incidents like this.
05.01.2022 Most of us have had the unfortunate experience of THE BULLY. For once the news is good: to make a human who isn't a bully, perhaps all you need to do is take them to a park while you read a book under a tree. Let them play in the world. The rest is memory. By encouraging children to know themselves, feel safe and supported to make mistakes, letting them get muddy and have arguments, you're actually increasing not only their chance at being able to get that good mark in hig...h school, but the chance they'll be a well-rounded, employable, kind, empathetic person in the world. At Pachamama, we do just this! Lorin Clarke is a Melbourne writer, podcast producer and maker of RN's Fitzroy Diaries.
04.01.2022 OUR NEW NURSERY ROOM is finished today! Continual improvement in challenging times! Pachamama demonstrates its antifragility, which is beyond resilience or robustness. The resilient resists shocks and stays the same; the antifragile gets better.
04.01.2022 Remember being a kid?
03.01.2022 Pachamama has been HONOURED by Mr Davids GENTLE and KIND PRESENCE over the holiday period. He focussed on diversity and skin colour, and how we all have red blood under our different shades. He cooked Maasai food for us after we showed him how an oven works without fire. It was delightful. So much was shared and learned by all. Mr David was greeted by 150 villagers yesterday visiting his home as he returned from Australia. They were joyful their Junior Elder arrived safely. We are looking forward to his return! Pachamama will continue to support Olmayian-Olmoti Maasai school. Following the kitchen construction, we are focussing on building the kids their very first school toilet!
03.01.2022 A surprise 3 hour WORKSAFE AUDIT VISIT today across our three buildings and playgrounds resulted in SIGNIFICANT PRAISE of our safe policies and practices responsible for our clean and tidy environments, highly organisationed areas, effective safety training and drills, and our well-considered traffic management. Pachamama is SO PROUD of all our Educators and Managers for their diligent and professional work receiving such HIGH COMMENDATIONS for the ultimate safety of our children, families and fellow staff. THANK YOU!
03.01.2022 "Hi ... my name is MUFFY and LIFE IS MUCH BETTER FOR ME TODAY than it was a few days ago thanks to Pachamamas kids. I live in a place where the eucalyptus trees are very dry because of the drought. I lost my Mummy when we descended our tree to find food and water. I was so scared without her, so I hid under a school bus! Children found me and told the bus driver not to start the bus until I was safe. I was tiny and covered in ticks. They took me on the bus to The Wildlife Empire in Goondiwindi where they promised to help me grow big and strong. I still miss my Mummy. But I'm so happy that Pachamama Kids are sponsoring me back to health ... YOU ARE SO KIND AND I LOVE YOU!"
02.01.2022 Now is the time to MAKE JUSTICE A REALITY FOR ALL OF GODS CHILDREN. It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment ... When we allow freedom to ring - when we let it ring from every city and every hamlet, from every state and every city - we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, ...Free at last. Free at last. Great God almighty, we are free at last. (Dr Martin Luther King Jr at the March on Washington in 1963 in his I Have a Dream speech.) Nearly 60 years later, the words for justice still ring true and we must listen to these pleas for justice worldwide. Yesterday I was HONOURED to visit Black Lives Matter Plaza in Washington DC to speak with activists about the I CANT BREATHE movement. Pachamama is founded on diversity and justice for all. We value Pachamamas community members of all shades and creeds and hope to actively set an example for others to consider - especially our children. They are our future and our hope. https://www.facebook.com/jd.j.grigsby
01.01.2022 Please help our Maasai families feed their children if you can.
