20.01.2022 Whanau Ora - Pacific Wellbeing: A new issue of the Pacific Health Dialog is published. Free registration to access free content at http://pacifichealthdialog.nz/index.php/phd/login. We recognised that all families face different challenges at different stages of their lives and for some, the challenges are complex, multi-generational and multi-dimensional. We understood that for families to progress, we needed to take a strength-based approach, focusing on what works for each family and facilitating access to resources, services, skills and support to enable change. wrote Debbie Sorensen, CEO, Pasifika Futures Ltd, Auckland, New Zealand.

15.01.2022 Pacific Greetings How do I find or refine a research question? What research method should I use? How do I perform a literature search? ... How do I do an audit? How do I write a paper for publication? Those are some of the questions commonly asked at our PSRH Research Workshops which we have been conducting since 2009. Workshops are good but they are expensive and occur annually as a result. I have experimented with Facebook and Linked In as tools to support our researchers with variable success. So how about we try webinars? A webinar is an exciting way of conversing on the internet. It is interactive between participants and the host or panel. Questions can be asked and answered to the benefit of all participants. So I am inviting you to join me. All you need is the desire to seek solutions to your clinical practice, the time commitment of one hour, an internet connection or WIFI, a computer or a smartphone. Please join me and my panel to discuss: How to refine a research question and address your questions on Monday the 29th Jan at 7pm NZT. Join from a PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone or Android device: Please click this URL to join. https://zoom.us/s/798189316 Alec Ekeroma FRANZOCG FRCOG PhD Chief Editor, Pacific Health Dialog and the Pacific Journal of Reproductive Health

11.01.2022 Impact of Climate Change on Pacific Health We invite manuscripts for our next issue due out in October. The theme is: "Impact of Climate Change on Pacific Health". The "Cyclone Season" in the Pacific starts from October to March. Some countries are hit twice in one season. Fiji was affected twice in 2017. Cyclone Gita in 2017 swept through six Island countries causing devastation that is not measured only in dollar terms. Human suffering and health are affected immeasurably.... Climate Change has and will continue to have a huge impact on health outcomes in the Pacific. Tell your stories. Submit a manuscript for editorial consideration. Deadline 30th July.

11.01.2022 The February issue of the PHD is themed "Health Realities and our Cultures". We invite researchers, clinicians, policymakers and health workers to share their stories in our issue. Deadline 15 Feb. What does culture mean to you? How does that affect our communities health? This is an excerpt from the Stanford School of Medicine Website: "Traditionally, illness was thought to be the result of an imbalance in the three anchors of the lokahi triangle (physical, mental/emotional and spiritual). Healing traditions addressed all three and healing occurred in a very holistic way. Many Pacific cultures share these or similar beliefs. For example, in Palau, illness could occur from ancestral-wrongness to the spirit (Wong et al., 2004)."

09.01.2022 Your picture/photo could be on the September cover of the Pacific Health Dialog. Photo of the impact of Cyclone Gita is what we are looking for. Let us know

08.01.2022 Love and compassion trumps hate and fear. Participation and Inclusion is the theme of our 3rd Open Access issue. The editorial board is grateful to all the researchers, authors and reviewers who have made the work disseminating Pacific evidence hugely rewarding. Our next issue in June is on the Whanau Ora programme. We accept all and any manuscripts for peer review.

08.01.2022 The next issue is themed as: Health Realities and our Cultures. Health is shaped by culture. "The influence of culture on health is vast. It affects perceptions of health, illness, and death, beliefs about causes of disease, approaches to health promotion, how illness and pain are experienced and expressed, where patients seek help, and the types of treatment patients prefer." http://www.kidsnewtocanada.ca/culture/influence. There is richness in the spectrum of Pacific cultural diversity and it is important to identify positive aspects of our cultures to assist us in the promotion of health and avoidance of disease. We invite manuscripts that address the theme and will accept those that are not relevant to the theme.
