21.01.2022 Congratulations and tagio tumas to Gideon Sade from Solomon Islands who won a $200 Woolworth’s voucher for his participation in the PLS Cost of Living and Remittances Survey. The survey, delivered by Sustineo, will help Australian and Pacific Governments understand the benefits of the PLS to workers, their families, and communities, and how these can be increased and optimised. Thanks to the workers who participated in the first round of the survey! There are 2 more survey rounds to come (each with a prize draw) and the randomly selected PLS participants will be notified through their team leaders.

21.01.2022 Due to a recent COVID-19 cluster, South Australia has put in place new rules for the next 6 days. If you’re unsure about these measures, please speak to your employer. It’s important that everyone follows the government’s advice to avoid unwanted consequences or penalties. Stay at home unless you need to leave the house for work, essential items, and groceries. If you do go out in public for the reasons listed above, you must wear a mask and keep 1.5 meters distance from... other people. Do not leave your home to exercise. If you experience COVID-19 symptoms, please get tested at one of the locations here www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/covidtesting and provide immediate advice to your employer. Please visit www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/covidcontacttracing for the full list of affected locations and ongoing updates.

08.01.2022 Every year Pacific workers positively impact the Australian economy. Without them, many Australian employers would suffer from chronic labour shortages. Watch the video to learn how ni-Vanuatu workers helped save this year’s mango crop in the Northern Territory. Australian High Commission, Vanuatu

01.01.2022 A group of redeployed Pacific Labour Scheme workers from PNG have now arrived in Smithton to work at Greenhams abattoir. Here they are before church last Sunday, which they have been able to attend with Tasmanian COVID-19 safety measures. They join 11 other workers from Madang at the worksite, who "have such a good reputation in the community," according to their employer. Before travelling to Australia, the group undertook a work readiness program to prepare for their new roles. Their TAFE instructor praised their work ethic during the course, saying "they were some of the most thoughtful, driven and appreciative students that I have had the pleasure of teaching." All the best to you in your new roles!
