24.01.2022 Earlier this month, it was fantastic to see both past and current students perform at NightQuarter's opening weekend. Well done to Frank and Louis Martin (Frank and Louis), Phoebe Struckett, Ryan Smart (Toxic Fox Band) and Sam and Tim Aitken (Sametime)!

22.01.2022 This week, we celebrated the growth and talent of our music students through a range of concerts, held both live and virtually. On Monday evening, our Senior Ensembles Concert was held in the gym while links to our Junior / Middle Ensembles Concert, Year 3-4 Strings Concert and Year 5-6 Multi-Instrumental Concert were emailed to families. In a year where performances in the Arts have been limited, it was a delight to be entertained by our musicians. Well done to all students on their enthusiasm and growth this year and thank you to Mrs Aleisha Tuaine, Mrs Helen Williams, Mr David Simpfendorfer and the instrumental tutors for their leadership of music at the College.

20.01.2022 Last week, our annual Sports Awards ceremonies were held to celebrate the contribution and sporting achievements of students throughout the year. We were privileged to have Brisbane Lions player Tom Fullarton attend as our special guest. Students greatly valued the opportunity to hear Tom reflect on his sporting journey, from playing basketball at a state and national level before transitioning to AFL in 2018. Tom spent time answering questions and encouraged students to try ...as many sports as possible. Well done to all students on their participation and growth this year and thank you to our teachers, parents and coaches who have navigated the changing contexts well. We particularly thank Acting Head of Sport Mr Darren Hooper and Sports Aide Mrs Natalie Campbell who have provided tremendous support to our community through their attention to detail, high levels of professionalism, creativity and ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions. 19.01.2022 At the end of November, our Year 5 Champions for Change participated in the Sunshine Coast Council’s Kids in Action online conference. Our students shared their journey and engaged with students from other schools, who also presented their own experiences. It was a great opportunity for students to connect and share their learnings. Following the conference, students reflected on their experience in nature, participating in a labyrinth walk.

18.01.2022 Congratulations to Senior College student Charles who placed third in the Individual Global Issues Problem Solving division of the National Future Problem Solving Finals. Charles responded to the future issue of ‘Living in Poverty’, identifying possible challenges, providing solutions and developing an action plan. We also congratulate Senior College student Makani who participated in the Scenario Writing division of the finals. Makani is the first Pacific student to participate in this division, writing a creative short story that depicted a plausible future as a result of current global issues. Well done to both Charles and Makani and thank you to Mrs Jo Belchamber, Ms Kirsty Roy and Ms Adelle Byerlee.

18.01.2022 As the year comes to an end, it’s important to pause, reflect and celebrate all that we’ve achieved together. 2020 has been an extraordinary year that provided tremendous opportunities for growth. We can each be proud of the role that we have played as staff, students and parents in enhancing a culture that supports young people to grow richly. Thank you for all you have given and been for each other.

15.01.2022 Today, we acknowledge the important role that teachers, and those working within schools, play in the lives of our young people and their families. At Pacific this year, staff have continued shining a light of hope and possibility while focusing on maintaining the richness of our culture amidst change and uncertainty. Through this, they have provided stability as well as opportunities for fun, growth and purpose. We celebrate all staff at Pacific and thank each of you for who you are and all you have given.

15.01.2022 At Chapel this morning we said farewell to our 2020 Year 12 students. In a year that has been vastly different to what any of us expected, the leadership, adaptability and positivity of the cohort has been an important component in maintaining and enhancing experiences for our community. Each of our Year 12 students have developed different capabilities and strengths and are well prepared to take their next step into life beyond school. We thank their families for the import...ant role they have played as partners in the growth of this community and of their children. We congratulate each Year 12 student for what you have achieved and who you have become. We thank you for what you have given and wish you every blessing as you step forward into your next adventure. As you go, step forward with hands that build and continue to shine the light of hope and possibility. See more

13.01.2022 This week, our Year 12 students completed their final external examinations and moved to an alternative day program. The program provided students with the opportunity to reflect and prepare for the next phase of their lives. With the easing of restrictions to now allow dancing at school formals, students have also engaged in some dance lessons in preparation for tomorrow night! We look forward to celebrating their Graduation tonight, Farewell Chapel in the morning and Formal tomorrow evening.

12.01.2022 Last week, our Year 10 Japanese class connected with Year 10 and 11 students from our sister school, Seishin Gakuen, who missed out on visiting Pacific earlier this year due to travel restrictions. Our students learned about kendo and kyudo (Japanese fencing and archery) and took part in a quiz organised by Seishin students via Zoom.

12.01.2022 Congratulations to Senior College student Amelia who has been awarded both the Bronze Certificate and the Silver Certificate in the ASDAN International Academic Awards. Following the same structure as Duke of Edinburgh awards, ASDAN awards are based on community involvement and academic endeavour to foster self-confidence, self-awareness and an understanding of how to be a successful learner. Thank you to Mrs Jo Belchamber, Ms Kate Vaney, Mrs Colleen Beattie, Mrs Ceilidh King, Ms Roslyn Grewar and Mrs Janine Delaney for their support of Amelia.

10.01.2022 At the end of the term, 80 students across Year 3-9 participated at the St Andrew’s invitation-only Swimming Relay Carnival. 07.01.2022 On Friday, Year 6 students installed a vertical garden on L Block, with the help of Harmony Landscapes. The garden will continue to be added to each year so that more students have the opportunity to learn about plants and gardening as well as enjoy the benefits of increased time in nature. Thank you Harmony Landscapes for their assistance with this project and to our Year 6 students for leading this green initiative.
