25.01.2022 Have a set of keys cut for each member of the household and have a set cut for family members or friends that live nearby.

25.01.2022 A lovely review from Bethwyn J - we really appreciate you taking the time to let us know how we did. Wow, it was like a miracle! I went out (from my old house) the evening before, and when I returned home (to my new house) next day, all the furniture was in place, all the boxes unpacked and gone, and my house was immediately completely functional! My biggest worry was which cupboard held the coffee capsules - and I only had to try one! I have moved house many times before but never had such a wonderful experience. The Packed to Perfection team were fabulous to work with, and anticipated my wants and needs at all stages. I can not recommend them highly enough, it really was like a miracle!

24.01.2022 Most properties will be given a professional clean before the previous owners or tenants move out, but sometimes a house will be empty for a period of time which means it will need another clean before you move in.

24.01.2022 Its important to this just before you move so the previous tenants wont be charged for your energy usage and vice versa.

23.01.2022 Why you need to get the experts!

23.01.2022 Research shows that in addition to stress clutter can spur on anxiety and depression. Especially in women.

22.01.2022 One of the most common moving mistakes we see is people underestimating how much stuff they have and the time it will take to pack it all. An average three-bedr...oom house will have around 80 boxes of belongings, not including furniture. This represents around 25 hours of work for people who arent used to packing. Wouldnt it be lovely for our professional team of ladies to do this for you in 4 hours? See more

22.01.2022 3. How much money will it cost to make this someone else's problem?

21.01.2022 Don't be stressed. We are here to help and can pack your entire house in 4 hours! Call now for obligation free quote.

21.01.2022 When you move house its important to contact your insurance provider to make sure youre covered for the duration of the move

20.01.2022 Well worthwhile... most of our clients have about a third of their pantry that should be in the bin! Happy sorting.

19.01.2022 Some helpful ideas here for the wardrobe, a daunting space for many of us to tackle.... Letting go of old clothes, shoes and handbags is the most difficult step of the purging process. While it’s tempting to keep your quirky tops and tight-fitting jeans on standby, it’s also important to remember that these articles of clothing will only weigh your moving boxes down and send your moving bill up. When sorting through each item in your wardrobe, ask yourself these questions... Have you worn it at any point in the last year? Think about it. If you haven’t worn this piece of clothing at any point during the last four seasons, then it’s probably not something you need to keep. Is it on-trend or making a comeback? it takes approximately 20 years from first appearance to resurgence for a trend to come back into style in our culture. If the clothing is out-of-style and you no longer wear it, toss it. Does it fit properly? Over time our bodies fluctuate in weight, shoe size and more. If you’re holding onto a piece of clothing that no longer fits, it’s time to either toss it or take it to a tailor. Is it in good condition? Despite the fact that you may love a piece of clothing, if it’s stained or irreparably damaged it’s time to toss it. Chances are good you’ll never wear it again anyway. Create a donate pile, a trash pile and a consignment pile. If your clothing is damaged, toss it in the trash pile. If the clothing is gently used and salvageable toss it in the "donation pile. If the clothing is on-trend and/or if it is a valuable designer item, toss it in the consignment pile and head to your closest consignment store.

17.01.2022 Downsizing a Home: A Checklist for Caregivers This can be a very stressful family time and something the team at Packed to Perfection specialise in and love to help our clients with! Moving is a high-stress life event, the experts tell us, and they're right. Whether it's cross-town or cross-country, whether to a small apartment or a large suburban home, tackling the organizing, packing, discarding, cleaning, paperwork and the myriad other tasks is a major challenge.... When you're older and moving from the family home to a new smaller residence, possibly in a new community or your adult child's home, sorting through decades of family history and possessions can feel overwhelmingeven paralyzing. As we progress through life, moving may signal new opportunities, a new relationship, a new adventure ahead. For an older adult this "new" opportunity may feel like a mixed blessing. On the positive side, a move may offer a sense of "lightening" to reduce the messy clutter of a family's history, fewer home and yard chores and can help reduce feelings of isolation of living alone. More often, this relocation can be an unwelcome admission of frailty, loneliness, possible serious illness, and a loss of independence. This tip sheet offers a handy guide to save time, energy and sleepless nights. Most importantly, the Checklist below provides a tool to help you organize your move and help it progress as smoothly as possible. Since every situation is different, select the areas that apply to you, and add your own notes in the spaces provided below. If you are facing a crisis, such as moving a parent into an assisted care residence after a caregiving spouse dies, or into a nursing home after a devastating stroke, the process will be condensed and planning time will be minimal. This may be the most challenging experience of all. We encourage you to get as much help and support as you can from friends, family, religious communities and social service organizations. (For more information, see also FCA's fact sheet Home Away from Home: Relocating Your Parents.) If you are an adult child helping your parent make this move, we hope this also offers advice on how to be both supportive and efficient as you and your loved ones manage this major life event.

17.01.2022 Hope you have a lovely weekend AND get a chance to sleep in!

15.01.2022 Building Inspection? Before committing to buying a property, consider including a building inspection as part of your contract for the purchase so you can avoid... any nasty surprises once you've moved in. A good building inspection will provide you with information that could ultimately influence your decision to purchase the property. It will assess things like whether the house is structurally sound and whether you can expect major expenditures in the future. 14.01.2022 Hoping you are having a lovely morning and keeping cosy during this chilly weather.

14.01.2022 This is certainly one of the most helpful things you can do for yourself prior to moving and downsizing. If the task is too daunting we are very experienced and more than happy to help! FAILING TO DE-CLUTTER Hoarding possessions that you havent laid eyes on since Sherbet hit the radio waves, serves no purpose other than accumulating a Guinness world record-worthy layer of dust. Its time to let go. The silver lining of relocating is the opportunity to declutter and reorgani...se your belongings. A good rule of thumb is to donate, discard or sell items you havent worn or used in a year. Consolidating your worldly possessions can be a time-consuming endeavour, but it is certainly a worthwhile one. Enlisting the help of friends and family ahead of time can speed up this process. You may also want to hold a garage sale to dispose of items that are no longer of use, this is an effective way of raising extra funds while still fulfilling the primary objective. See more

12.01.2022 How to Sort and Get Rid of Stuff You Don't Need to Move Get Organized Before You Move Before you start packing, it's a good idea to sort through your stuff, so ...you don't move things that you don't need and have never really used. Not only will it save you time in packing and unpacking, but it will also save you money; the more stuff you have to move, the more expensive it will be. This is particularly true for people who are moving to another city, across the state or across the country. Take Note of Time-Consuming Rooms Keep track of the areas in your home where you'll need to spend extra time. Closets are prime spaces where most of us store things we don't use on a daily basis. Other rooms where you tend to store items is the garage, den or home office, and front closet. Make a note of these spaces to ensure you have enough time to go through them; if you leave sorting to the last minute, you'll find that you're packing up everything even though you know you don't really need it all. Make a List Take time to go through each room, writing down the things that will stay and what you don't need. Keep this list to the absolute essentials - the things you know for sure you're moving. Try to be realistic. If you're moving everything yourself, then think about how much you want to pack and what you can fit in the moving truck. If you're hiring movers, remember that every box you pack costs money. Remove Everything From the Space If you're sorting closets, take everything out. If you're sorting a room, make sure everything is out of boxes and removed from storage containers. If you're sorting the garage, remove everything and place it in the center of the room or outside the space. Removing everything will give you a sense of the amount of stuff you have and what you do need from that pile. Place the Items Into Piles Make two piles: "keep" and "don't keep." You can even go a step further and sort the "don't keep" into a sell online or donate pile and a recycle pile. What Should Go Into the "Keep" Pile? To decide if an item should be kept or tossed, ask yourself how often you've worn or used the item in the last year. For clothing, it should have been worn at least twice. If you want to keep the item "just in case," then don't; usually, that means you'll never use it and maybe someone else can. What Should Go Into the "Donate" Pile? Items that you haven't used or are unlikely to use and that are still in good shape, add them to the donate pile. Make sure the items aren't ripped or stained or broken beyond repair. If they are, they should be put in the garbage or made into cleaning cloths. Don't waste a charity's time by donating unusable items. For more information on where to donate items, check out the article on where to donate used goods. What Should Go Into the "Sell" Pile? This pile should contain items that you know you could fetch some money for, things that you can imagine someone else using. Take clothing to consignment stores; household items can be sold online or at a garage sale. Place All the Donate or Sell Objects in Separate Bags or Bins Once you've placed them in containers, set the containers in a place where they will be out of the way, but not forgotten. Whatever you've decided to do with these unwanted items, add that task(s) to your list of things to do. Go Back to Your "Keep" Pile Look at the items that you decided to keep. Go through each one to make sure you'll use it again. If you're hesitating, add it to the "donate/sell" pile(s). The things you want to keep, organize by type and select the appropriately sized boxes. For example, you may want to pack all the shoes into one medium-size box. Label the box with the contents and which closet or room it came from, i.e., "hall closet" or "bedroom closet."

07.01.2022 How can you help yourself and others at the same time? By de-cluttering before you move - this not only cuts down on your moving costs but helps others in need. Win-win! If you find this a bit daunting and hard to get started we can help, it's very affordable.... How to get rid of stuff If you have lived in the same house for a while, you may find you have accumulated quite a lot of stuff. If you are tempted to keep something just in case- dont. Create three piles keep, throw away, sell/donate/give away and stick to them. Keep Pile - Look honestly at what you use regularly, and what hasnt been used for more than twelve months. This includes clothes and appliances. Keep what you use regularly and get rid of everything else. Throw Away Pile Any items that have stains, rips, breaks, or tears, and dont work properly or at all should be placed in this pile. Sell/Donate/Give Away Pile If any of your items could fetch a decent price, put them in the sell pile. You can sell these items at second-hand stores, garage sales, and online. Any items that are unused, but are still in good condition can be donated to charity. Do not donate items with stains, rips, breaks, or tears. Once you have gone through everything, take another look at your keep pile. Go through each item again and consider whether you will really use it. So what do you do with all of the things you have chosen to get rid of? You can: Recycle Gift items to your friends and family Sell unwanted items in a garage sale or online Donate to charity Throw away objects no one will want (old clothes, broken appliances, etc.) Good luck and we are only a phone call away!

05.01.2022 A great tip when de-cluttering your wardrobe. Think of your laundry cycle, if you wash twice a week do you really need those 7 black t'shirts? If you wash once a week maybe you do...

05.01.2022 Although its important to make sure you officially change your address with relevant businesses its also important to update your friends and relatives.
