25.01.2022 It can be tricky having children of different ages who all want to join in the one activity - what I’ve found to help is to modify the activity slightly! Using our large bead shapes, my 2yo, 4yo and 6yo were all able to join in and play, with a few simple changes depending on age! My youngest practiced his threading vertically, using a wooden skewer in playdough (sharp end pointing down!) ... Then my older two incorporated some #mathstimemonday into their #focusonfinemotor by rolling the dice. The colour and number it landed on determined how many of that colour bead needed to be threaded. Great for fine motor, colour recognition, number recognition and one-to-one correspondence! Have you joined in with our fine motor challenge on IG yet this week? Don’t forget there is a prize up for grabs, so get threading!

24.01.2022 Did you know that patterns are a very important maths concept? That they allow us to make predictions, make logical connections and use reasoning skills? Plus patterns can be found everywhere! Patterns is one of the prompts for our #mathstimemonday Shapes in September and is such a fun one to do! We explored some patterns using our pattern blocks, however there are so many other resources you could use - building blocks, pegs, beads, counters, different coloured pebbles, an...d pasta (just to name a few!) How do you like exploring patterns? Let me know below

24.01.2022 Hello everyone I realised it’s been awhile since I’ve jumped on and said g’day! I’m Victoria and I’m the person behind this account and business! So here’s 3 little facts about me - I am hands-down one of the biggest chocoholics going around #justaskmyhusband I am a born/bred city girl who now lives in the country and absolutely loves it! Before becoming a primary teacher I was set on being a PE teacher - I’m thankful now that things worked out the way it did! I would love to know more about you too! Comment below with one fun fact about you (or more if you want!)

18.01.2022 There’s no doubt that our fine motor tools are one of the most popular items we sell! And for good reason too - they are so open ended and so important in the development of our little ones hands! This activity here, snapped by the awesome @playtime.messy.madness, is definitely a favourite of ours too! Simply using water colours, our twisty dropper and some paper towel, squeeze the colours on to create some beautiful artwork. I love this activity so much I even set it up in... the classroom this week! What is your favourite way of using your fine motor tools? Let me know below, as we are always looking for new ways to use ours!

11.01.2022 So in hindsight, getting my 2yo to choose the food colouring for this activity may not have been the wisest choice But despite the nice, bright yellow () this was a big hit! Using our twisty dropper, my little one squeezed water over some frozen flower ice blocks! Our #focusonfinemotor 4 week challenge has finished, however, due to popular demand we will be keeping the hashtag going #yay! ... Each month a new prompt will be released on Instagram. The winner of the previous month will be guest judge, choosing a new winner. Our prompt for the month of November will be released in the next few days - will you be joining in?

10.01.2022 Taking part in our Instagram #mathstimemonday tag, even though I’m fully aware it’s Tuesday This month the theme is Nature in November - we used some loose nature items that have been collected over time in a simple counting activity for my 4yo. We set up our coloured wooden bowls and @birch_please_au numbers for him to count the nature collections into. ... I then asked him to tell me which was the biggest number, smallest number, what comes before/after another number as well. Have you been joining in with #mathstimemonday? As you can see, it doesn’t just have to be done on a Monday either!

10.01.2022 So, hands up who has finished their Christmas shopping?! I’m at least half way through, just a few more online purchases to be made then hopefully Ill be done! The biggest issue I’m having is making sure they are all hidden so that my children don’t find them. Pretty sure my daughter discovered some today ... Where do you hide your presents before the big day? Let me know below as I clearly need a better solution! @little.outback.learners

09.01.2022 Got to love being able to re-purpose puzzles! This is a popular way of doing it that I have seen many times, and finally got around to doing something similar with my own children Simply wrap each puzzle piece in alfoil (or similar) for a sneaky fine motor work out! These chunky wooden numbers are from our Little Numbers Pack, and were perfect for this activity - I just made a matching board out of card as an extra element! ... What hacks do you have to make known toys/resources seem new again?!

08.01.2022 Wow, wow, wow! Thank you so much everyone for your support last night during our restock and new product launch! To say I’m blown away is an understatement! I am so super appreciative of every single one of you that supports my business in anyway - so thank you!! There are still plenty of goodies available, including these giant scoopers. These are perfect for dry or wet sensory play, and are simply gorgeous! ... Did you check out our new products? Which ones did you like? Let me know below x @these_playfuldays

07.01.2022 One thing I love to know about small businesses is their back story - where they came from, how they got started, why they started! I find it absolutely fascinating! For me, my back story revolves around those in this picture - my three children. They have taught me so much, and still are! They are constantly keeping me on my toes, and striving to be the best I can for them. They’ve given me so many opportunities and so much inspiration. They’ve also given me very little sle...ep, grey hair and even more of a chocolate addiction To say they inspire this business of mine is an understatement- they’re the reason I started it! For when we’re in that sleep deprived state, or trying to do all the things, that’s when it’s so nice to be able to pull out an activity that is fun, educational and has ideas on how to play all ready to go. Plus my three children are the perfect toy testers - trust me, if a product can survive a week in our house we’re onto a winner! #notevenjoking I am forever thankful for this little family of mine and all that my children and husband inspire me to be and do every day And I would love to know your back story too - let me know in the comments about you and yours!!

07.01.2022 A simple introduction to making shapes, just by using popsticks! This is a great way to make your basic shapes, such as triangles, squares and rectangles. Though circles will definitely be a bit tricky! Start bringing in language, such as sides and corners - eg. How many sides does this shape have? Yes it has three. Did you know tri means three? That’s why it’s called a triangle! Join us for #mathstimemonday, this month @the_literacy_playroom and @intentionalplayeveryday and I are focusing on Shapes in September!

06.01.2022 Some of the best ‘learning’ you can do with your children is the incidental learning - those opportunities you see during the day to explore a topic further, introduce terminology, practice counting, recognise familiar letters and so forth. One way to encourage this is by having open-ended resources available to play with, and just being aware of the conversations you can have with your children when they play! And as always, follow their lead! Our peg people from @pegplaydesigns and our colour sorting board from @worksatplay (available in our Little Colour Pack) were used for some great colour matching the other day! All child-led too, yay!

06.01.2022 To say these are a sanity saver are an understatement! A reusable silicone mat that is small enough to fit in your hand bag? Yes please! My three have one of these @heydoodle_ mats each, and they LOVE them! Right from the 2yo to the 6yo! We still have some themes left in stock, so if you are after one of these babies as a great stocking filler, be quick!

05.01.2022 Will you be joining us for our #mathstimemonday prompt of Shapes in September? This is throwing it back a few years, but was such a fun activity! We included some gross motor skills in our shape matching (which is always a winner!) Make sure you tag @the_literacy_playroom @intentionalplayeveryday and yours truly @packsoffun to be featured in our stories each Monday. I can’t wait to see what amazing shape activities you get up to this month!

05.01.2022 Thank goodness for water play! Instantly calms the kids down, and there are so many options too. This simple set up was in our @ikea_australia Flisat table, with our @packsoffun Wild Republic animals, scoop and mortar/pestle. Plus a sneaky Paw Patrol car in there too What is your favourite way to play with water? Any setups that are a hit with your kiddos?

04.01.2022 What better combination then @birch_kids Read It, Make It, Write It boards teamed with @ellecollective_kids AlphaDots?! So much potential for these resources - use them to practice names, sight words (as shown here), CVC words, making shapes, numbers and so much more! Both resources are beautifully made and designed to last. Available to shop now
