21.01.2022 Royal Exhibition Gardens If you read my last post in full..I described the tree lined walkways in the exhibition gardens. The first image captures one such walkway. ... How pretty is it? The next three images show more of my attempts at intentional camera movement - panning rapidly but as smoothly as possible up and down on a slow shutter speed, I’ve captured the north facade of the Exhibition Building and the fountain in front of it. Pretty much my previous post in abstract form. What detail of the building can you pick out in the panning shots?

11.01.2022 I interrupt regular transmission to bring you sublime sunset images. Because I can 1. A peek of crepuscular rays just after sunset this evening - a divine contrast of deep blue and burnt orange 2. Sunset time just before 5pm this evening 3. Pastel skies + pacific gull = peaceful evening vibes... So lucky to be spending lockdown with these views on our doorstep

10.01.2022 Now this is good incentive to get vaccinated!

02.01.2022 Melbourne’s iconic Royal Exhibition Building, surrounded by formal gardens on the edge of the CBD, is a beacon of architectural significance and an integral part of Australia’s European history. Standing on Wurundjeri land and completed in 1880, it was built from the wealth of gold-rich Victoria, and hosted the Melbourne International Exhibition in 1880-81, the Centennial International Exhibition in 1888 and in 1901 the formal opening of the first Parliament of Australia... was held in the main hall. But on any given day when the weather is sunny, the gardens are filled with office workers on their lunch breaks or families with kids or tourists enjoying the verdant lawns and open spaces. And in autumn the gardens are pretty special - walkways lined with plane trees are covered in autumn leaves and the north facing fountain forever fills and empties. I enjoyed some time in the gardens after my first vaccination (see previous post), bringing my camera with me to spend some time here by myself. If you’ve been to Melbourne have you visited these gardens? 01.01.2022 Bunjil Shelter, Djab wurrung and Jardwadji country It was the fourth anniversary of the Uluru Statement of the Heart this week, so I felt it was important to be reminded that our indigenous people need a voice in our constitution by highlighting their incredible culture and history. This is my small attempt to do so.... Bunjil is the name given to a creator deity and ancestral being by the Aboriginal peoples of Victoria, Australia. On earth Bunjil was a man as depicted in this rock art site near Stawell and it was here he took shelter in a naturally formed cave beneath a granite boulder. Other rock art here depicts what is believed to be kangaroos. Bunjil is often represented as an Eagle and in Dreamtime stories is credited with creating the land, people, plants and animals, religion and laws by which the local aboriginal people live. This most important cultural site - the only place where Bunjil is represented in art form - is integral to the heritage of this region’s First Nations people. It was very special to visit this site back in April (it sits behind protective fencing) and get a sense of the ancient landscape and cultural stories around the area. Does your home country have ancient cultural heritage like this?
