23.01.2022 Episode 11 of The Good Dirt with Byron Smith (our Assistant Pastor's podcast) is now available. In this episode, Byron sat down with Aboriginal Christian leader and our PEACEtalks Director Brooke Prentis, exploring the difference between being political and being partisan. They discuss a range of recent news stories from bushfire smoke to China's secret re-education camps, from cashless welfare cards to the erosion of civil liberties, from burning rainforests to returning wha...les. NB This episode was recorded just before Christmas, which was before the height of the #BushfireEmergency. The stories are still all relevant, though some of the figures mentioned in the episode are now considerably worse. https://thegooddirt.podbean.com/e/11-brookeprentispolitica/

21.01.2022 Out of love for our neighbours, especially the most vulnerable, and with a commitment to reimagining and rediscovering more ways to be the church without physically gathering on a Sunday, we pass on this announcement from the Archbishop. More information to come. https://sydneyanglicans.net//public-gatherings-suspended-b

18.01.2022 Our first PEACEtalks event for the year is Saturday week. Human rights lawyer Ebony Birchall invites us to reflect on where we get our competing ideas of what is 'good' in our common life, and what to do with the disagreements that result. PEACEtalks is a ministry of Paddington Anglican, hosting monthly events promoting and cultivating deep conversations about politics, ethics, art and culture.

18.01.2022 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13.8), but things around us are changing rapidly. With the arrival of a COVID-19 pandemic, many familiar practices and patterns have already changed. Our Archbishop Glenn Davies announced that in light of the global catastrophe of the pandemic, that the Anglican Church in Sydney should suspend all public church gatherings until further notice. There are a number of implications for St George’s, Paddington. F...irst, it is clear that we will not be gathering this Sunday, or in the near future. While our physical gatherings are suspended, our faith, hope and love in the Lord Jesus are not. Nor is our call to care for one another and those around us. These are crucial and non-negotiable, unable to be cancelled by disease, war, drought, flood or fire. Read more here: https://paddington.church/services-suspended/ See more
