24.01.2022 Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis effecting thousands of people world wide. Did you know that regular exercise has been proven to reduce pain, improve physical function and health status in individuals living with osteoarthritis? Exercise such as aerobic, strengthening, aquatic and Tai Chi have shown to improve muscular strength, joint range of motion, proprioception, balance and cardiovascular fitness!

24.01.2022 For those who need to hear this.. you're welcome. Happy Monday!

24.01.2022 As many of you know it has been a big dream of mine to expand the Paddington Health Hub into more than the Physio, Massage and Pilates clinic we have today. I’ve always been passionate about a holistic approach to health and wellbeing and had visions of a facility that provided fitness options such as a functional fitness gym, group fitness classes and personal training. As well as a range of other allied health services such as nutrition and dietetics, health and wellness co...aching and workshops. I’m very excited to share with you the news that we are expanding to bring these services to you and more. As part of our expansion there will be a few big changes. A new brand One of the most important aspects of the new facility will be our community. We wanted a name that reflected the character of the people we are lucky to help every single day. So we felt it only fitting to choose a name that highlights this strength and tenacity. Introducing.. SiSU. Sisu is a unique Finnish concept. It stands for the philosophy that what must be done will be done, regardless of what it takes. Sisu is a special strength, persistent determination and resolve to continue and overcome in the moment of adversity an almost magical quality. It is a combination of stamina, perseverance, courage and determination held in reserve for hard times. A new home With the introduction of these new services we have sadly outgrown our home at 116 Latrobe Tce. To accomodate all of our new services we needed a much larger space and special zoning permits. This has meant that unfortunately we have been unable to find a location in Paddington to suit us. For those of you who have been with us from before we moved to Paddington you might remember our old location in Windsor. Well our new location is just across the road! Our new address will be 4/84 Newmarket Road, Windsor 4030. I understand for many of you, our central location in Paddington was really convenient. I too am going to miss walking to work everyday. Our new location in Windsor is only 8 minutes door to do from our current Latrobe Tce address. Additionally our new place has plenty of off-street parking so you can drive straight up to the front door and never have to worry about finding a park! The finer details Our last day at Paddington will be December 18th, 2020. We will be re-opening as SiSU in the new year on January 4th, 2021. Our new contact information: Email: [email protected]: (07) 3706 5607 Website: www.wearesisu.com.au Address: 4/84 Newmarket Road, Windsor 4030 Socials: @sisuwindsor Bookings for physiotherapy at SiSU are open and can be made online as normal. You can book via the Paddington Health Hub website up until December 18th, 2020 - just choose the SiSU location when you make a booking. Alternatively you can book via the SiSU website at www.wearesisu.com.au/book-appointment. Looking forward to seeing you all soon, Alex

23.01.2022 FUN FACT FRIDAY We are also believed to be the only animal that feels embarrassmenta complicated emotion requiring understanding others' opinions and other factors. Charles Darwin called blushing "the most peculiar and most human of all expressions," while Mark Twain said, "Man is the only animal that blushes. Or needs to." Happy Friday everyone!

22.01.2022 FRIDAY FUNNIES ISOLATION ESSENTIALS At the Paddington Health Hub we don't recommend panic buying or hoarding or having a million spares "just in case". ... But we DO recommend Isolation Chocolate * Not to be confused with normal chocolate or Easter chocolate which we also recommend.

22.01.2022 We have some really sad news. As of last week the federal government added to it's list of recommendations to reduce the spread of COVID-19 to remove the ability for all Pilates instructors, yoga instructors and remedial massage therapists to deliver their services - both within allied health clinics or in other businesses. While this is a super painful step for our awesome Phoebe and Kunga and many clients we understand the reasons behind this.... As a responsible business as of last week we have cancelled all future massage, Pilates and Yoga services - but we are thinking of this as a "pause". I have spoken to Phoebe and Kunga and as soon as we are able to re-offer these services they will be back! We hope you are OK in this challenging time. And anything you need, please call us and ask. Even if you don't think we can help

21.01.2022 While life is a little different at the moment we thought we might turn FUN FACT FIRDAY into FUNNY FIRDAY! While good hand hygiene is no laughing matter - this certainly would be an effective way to WASH YOUR HANDS! Remember 20 seconds is all it takes, wash them all over, do the moves, sing the song and stop the spread of germs!

19.01.2022 Dr Bec Bennett ( aka my big sister ) has written this great piece on staying connected when changes in life make it more difficult. We're all experiencing this at the moment with COVID-19, however Bec points out that may Australians feel this way on a daily basis because of a range of health related barriers. Bec ( an Audiologist; hearing healthcare experts ) talks about how hearing loss can cause these feelings to occur even when we're not facing a global pandemic. From my w...ork as a physio and a pharmacist I can tell you I also see this in my patients who have chronic pain, conditions that reduce their capacity to be independently mobile and those who have mental health conditions. The take home message - you don't have to be physically connected to share a connection. There are lots of ways we can stay connected when we're apart. BONUS TIP: get yourself a bunch of cute nieces and nephews! https://stories.uq.edu.au//all-in-this-togethe/index.html

17.01.2022 We often get asked 'What should I wear for my treatment?' Although it is entirely up to you, we do suggest the following; Physiotherapy: ... Comfortable clothing for the ease of movement and access to the area for treatment. For example; for a knee injury we suggest to wear or bring shorts. Pilates: Activewear, socks for grip and shoes with orthotics if required. A water and towel are also recommended. Remedial Massage: During a massage session you will be given the privacy to remove your clothes, leaving your underwear on and be covered by towels. We use towels to appropriately drape our clients during treatment for complete comfort. For female clients if you wish to keep your bra on, we suggest you wear one that we can unclip if access to your back is needed. So what do you wear? ANYTHING Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage: Loose clothing is highly recommended to receive the most benefits from your treatment. Compression garments or clothing is also appropriate. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact us at [email protected] or on 0731942162
