05.02.2022 We use ear acupuncture a lot in our clinic, especially with IVF patients. But there are many other times that ear acupuncture is used too. A recent large trial found that lower back pain responds very well to ear acupuncture. So don't forget to mention to us if you have any back pain! We are thrilled to welcome Marienne Cox as she expands her busy Northern Beaches practice into the Eastern suburbs, so she can now see all of those friends and family of her northern patients. Marienne has 10 years of experience in many aspects of Chinese medicine, especially stress related disorders, pain management and pregnancy care. She will be joining us on Saturday a...nd Tuesday mornings from the 29th September. Marienne is a member of the team of Acupuncturists working at the Acupuncture Pregnancy Clinic in the City. She is also part of Oasis Health, a busy clinic in Mona Vale on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. So, we feel very lucky to have her join us here in Paddington. 14.01.2022 Make the dentist a much more pleasurable experience. We can put small studs in your ears in particular acupuncture points. These have been shown to significantly reduce anxiety in those patients who get very anxious about seeing a dentist. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.eujim.2018.03.008

In traditional Chinese medicine, we talk about pain as an obstruction to the Qi that should circulate freely in the body, along certain pathways called meridians. To relieve pain we use carefully chosen acupuncture points to re-establish the flow of Qi. Functional MRI studies on patients having acupuncture for moderate to severe osteoarthritis found that as the pain improved with 6 acupuncture treatments over a month, so did the functional c...onnectivity in the right frontal parietal network and the executive control network, which are the centres that play a role in processing pain. Perhaps when traditional Chinese doctors talk about unblocking Qi they are really talking about how the pain centres in the brain are working together.
