20.01.2022 Just to remind you to keep going. Have a great weekend paddlers!

19.01.2022 A coach rides the wave with their athletes everyday. Coaches help set goals and are there when these goals are either achieved or not. I have ridden hundreds waves with my athletes and I am always proud of how my athletes respond. No matter what happens, they are back to training on Monday and ready to build toward their next goal. Keep it strong team!

18.01.2022 Before you start learning about technique, you need to make sure you have the correct paddle angle. Over the years I have seen too many paddlers, paddling with the incorrect angle for the type of paddle they have or due to physical limitations. I made a podcast showing how to set YOUR correct paddle angle, giving you a 100% catch and setting you up with a more powerful stroke. Click here to listen: https://paddle2fitness.com.au/02-paddle-angles/ Let me know what do you think about it in the comments.

18.01.2022 At best we can only spend 60-90min on the water 2-3 times a week. This wouldn’t be not enough to be able to improve your balance quickly. Take a peak on our website to see some exercises that you can do from home. See link here: https://paddle2fitness.com.au//technique-balance-exercise/

18.01.2022 WEEKLY NEWS #23 Peak Performance / Squad members, your weekly news is now available on then platform. As you know it was our TT week and your times are impressive. Well done, Coach .......................... Something from our Weekly News........ It was TT week as well and the timing coming in are still ...... impressive. Jo - 38:23 - 22sec improvement Ben - 31:09 - 1min improvement Jason - 29:44 - 1m 14sec improvement Eugene - 30:43 - 19sec improvement In addition to this, Andrew was able to paddle 129km last week by adding more MAF to the MAF sessions and an extra 1 or 2 105% efforts to the 105% sessions. That is some impressive distance. Here is a great graph from Ben's TT this morning which included our P2F warm up. You can see his HR and speed increasing over the warm up and then his ability to achieve racing HR in the first 3-5 minutes. Plus a good start and then a steady speed throughout the TT. For those of you that have been with the Peak Performance programs since we started back in April, your Speed Calculator graphs should be starting to look like this. Yes you could have some ups and downs but your graphs should be climbing upward over the whole time. Are you interested to know more? www.paddle2fitness.com.au/programs

14.01.2022 Which is better: a paddle leash or a leg leash? Are they both safe or is one more unsafe than the other? See in BIO a link to our Paddle 2 Fitness Podcast where we discussed the advantages and disadvantages in using both the paddle leash and the leg leash. In addition, we explained our thoughts on at which skill level paddlers should be using one type of leash before transferring to the other. Happy Paddling

14.01.2022 WEEKLY NEWS #25 on now available. Dear Members, Welcome to your Peak Performance program. Medium week is the second week in our new macro-cycle of a four week building program.... R U OK? Follow-up I had a couple of concerned members call me last week suggesting my last weekly news was very personal. Yes it was. As an ex-elite athlete and now coach I see a lot of mental ups and downs. 100% of people feel when they are going through something, that they are the only ones, the first to have gone through that situation. I am here to let you know we ALL go through things, even me. When athlete's come to me when they are about to line up in the final, they often say, "I haven't done enough", "I'm nervous". My reply, "No one on this line has done 100% of the sessions their coach asked them to do. At best they have done 80-90% of them. As for your nerves, everyone is nervous, trust me. Believe in what we have done to get you here, relax and go for it". As your coach, I need you all to know what I am as human as you. I go through things with work, family and friends just like you. You are members of a community of people that love exercise and 99% of you love paddling. We are here for each other. Coach Looking to improve your paddling performance? 13.01.2022 As a coach, I have never asked my athletes to do something that I would not be repaired to do myself. When one of my 35+ athletes said that they would like to compete in the Coolangatta Gold, I said Let’s do it. Here I am finishing my first of three Coolangatta Golds with little Matilda watching on in the pink hat. If you have a goal and would like help to achieve it, send us a message and we would be happy to help you out.

12.01.2022 Peak Performance / Squad Members, Our Weekly News is now available on the platform. We have added an R U OK? message and an offer of help if you need it. I hope you all enjoyed last weeks 'recovery week' and ready to start week #24. Coach Something from this weeks weekly news ........... Week #23 Review Recovery Week (week 4 in the cycle) and as I mentioned a great week to get back to basics. I mention 'controlling speed' when doing MAF sessions and below is two different looking graphs of the same session. The session was 2 x 6kms @ MAF w 1mins @ 105% every 8-10mins | 2mR. You can see the first graph is almost perfect with clear differences in HR and Speed while the second graph is a little more up and down. Conditions will play a part however I would really like you all to keep focusing on holding your MAF speeds and having a clear flat line.

06.01.2022 Weekly News #34 Dear Peak Performance / Squad Members, Welcome to another HELL WEEK. ... If you are on social media two of our current Olympic paddlers have started their own coaching business and while 99.9% of their posts and coaching philosophies are very identical to mine, one of the post stood out to me: "We recommend starting off your training weeks with a slow aerobic paddle with a focus on technique. It will help ensure you have your feeling back after the weekend and leave you ready for the week ahead!" AW This is why with our P2F training programs, we always have an easy aerobic session on a Monday which then leads into our first 105% session on Tuesday mornings. Your Tuesday session will not be as efficient if your not doing the first session of the week properly. Platform Update!!!!!!!! You might have seen some changes to your Profile page over the past week. We have been working hard in the background to come up with some internal competition ideas. Under your Training Zone blue box, you will now see a new blue box - 6km TT Leaderboard........ Log in to read more .... Coach

05.01.2022 To our Peak Performance and Squad Session platform members, WEEK #22 weekly report is now available. We received some amazing feedback this week from a podcast listener: From Weekly Report......... We really love hearing from you all and we received a great email from David this week about podcast #31 on warm-ups. If you were wondering if you should start doing a warm up before every race / time trail then I hope below is proof it helps.... "Hi Julian I just wanted to pass on my thanks for your latest podcast ‘Why you should do a warm up’. I created the warm up in my Garmin Connect and synched to my watch. I got to our regular weekly 10km Sat morning time trial held on Sydney Harbour about 30 mins early this morning and did the warm up . Timing was great, as I was able to go straight into the TT start after the warmup. In what were fairly bumpy conditions, I think I managed to shave off about 45 secs from my predicted time. I felt more relaxed starting the TT and feel better post paddle too. Many thanks! Kind regards, DN" www.paddle2fitness.com.au/programs

05.01.2022 If you want to practice how to drift on runners / swells then ask your coach to ride the wave behind their motor boat. This is the best / safest place to practice hip lean and the right amount of rudder turn. This is Gary at one of our Gold Coast Squad session this week.
