25.01.2022 Some sort of normality returning to the Saturday morning IOP sessions at Sorrento Beach. 50 odd paddlers this morning.

23.01.2022 The Paddleback Sports modular ski racking system will be on display at the SORRENTO BEACH - TRY A SKI DAY on Saturday morning February 24th Call in to the Sorrento Surf Club and take a look at the 2 rack model. Also available in 3 rack 4 rack and 5 rack sizes. The display will be on from 7.30 until 11.00.

23.01.2022 Tuesday / Thursday morning paddling at Sorrento. Now at 7.00am from tomorrow (Tuesday). Please be reminded that there are still group size restrictions for paddlers. We will communicate the requirements at the beginning of each session to ensure that we adhere to correct protocol. The ski sessions remain unofficial non club sanctioned training till further notice.

23.01.2022 It's that time again. The Broome express leaves tomorrow (Friday) courtesy of driver Paul Berry and the "Paddleback Sports" ute. A balmy 32 degrees, the "Boaties Bar" and why not throw in a "Sunset Surf Carnival". Only 10 members of the Surf Club are going - who's got it right (or wrong).

08.01.2022 Take care of your craft this afternoon and tonight. The winds could gust up to 60kph. Don't leave gear in the open even if it is tied down as it could get hit by flying debris. Definately no skis or boards should be left on roof racks out in the open or under trees. Even your garbage bins could disappear if you put them out tonight. Hold tight.

John O’Sullivan will be taking drone photos of our group (thank you John). Your support would be greatly appreciated even if you don’t normally join us on Saturday mornings. 02.01.2022 It’s time for a local challenge - the SttC. The "Sorrento Time Trial Challenge. On the waters just off our beach is a perfect course measuring approx. 3.5km. The course is shown on the graphic below and is very simple to follow. No real rules, other than you must round all the markers, and start/finish at the yellow marker at the corner of the shark net. You may paddle clockwise or anti clockwise, but some markers are a little more difficult to sight in the anti route. The p...revailing conditions will play a big part in your speed as you will encounter the full gambit doing the rectangular course. It would possibly be quickest on a calm day. In the morning when the sun is out is the optimum time for sighting purposes as the sun does reflect off the markers to give you better aiming points. The current record is a very modest 22:19, set while measuring the course. I would expect that the fast times will start coming in at around 15 mins. To have your time ratified, you will need to post your result on the Sorrento Ocean Paddlers FB page with the a time and distance graphic from your timing device.
