25.01.2022 Today our Year 7-9 students celebrated the end of the school year with a good dose of healthy House spirit and competition, Christmas activities, games, and much laughter! Celebrations continue tomorrow on their final day with liturgies and awards assemblies to be held at each of our campuses.
23.01.2022 Remembrance Day - Lest We Forget Students across Padua College are acknowledging Remembrance Day in each class at 11.00am. Some activities that are taking place include: a virtual liturgy prepared by Miss Mount’s Year 10 RE class, which was sent out for classes to participate in; some students taking the opportunity to place a virtual poppy and leave a personalised message on the Australian War Memorial’s interactive poppy wall and explore messages of thanks for those who... have served; our Junior RE classes at Mornington are involved in making poppies. The plan is for a field of poppies planted today in the Village (weather permitting!) https://lestweforget.gov.au/#/ #lestweforget
21.01.2022 Congratulations to all of our Year 7-9 Mornington students who were acknowledged with Sports, Music, Academic Achievement and Excellence Awards at the final Year 7-9 Awards Assembly today.
19.01.2022 The College is pleased to announce the re-commencement of its capital works projects which were put on hold as a result of COVID-19 this year. The construction of the long-awaited Performing Arts Centre at the Mornington Campus will commence in early 2021 with occupation anticipated at the beginning of the 2022 school year. Building Engineering, an accredited, award-winning commercial building company, was appointed to construct the facility after an extensive tender process.... This Centre will be an amazing space for all students at the College to utilise and we look forward to the many events that we will be able to share in once it is completed. Works on four, covered multipurpose courts at Mornington have also commenced. The courts are expected to be ready for the commencement of the 2021 school year and the cover will be completed by mid-2021. In order to accommodate these projects, a bus slip lane and reconfiguration of the Mornington Campus Bus Bays will take place over the Christmas school holidays. Parents will be kept informed of any impact to student drop-off and pick-up in 2021. Overall, these facilities will bring so much to our students both in the formal classroom setting and for recreational sporting use as well. Anthony Banks - Principal Peter Leamon - Board Chair
18.01.2022 As we celebrate men’s health and wellbeing today on International Men’s Day, we’re delighted to share the work of Flynt Robbins, talented Year 12 student and winner of the 2020 Mick McLoughlin Art Award. The following animated narrative depicts a young boy struggling to fit in to society. Flynt explains that the monochromatic scheme and opening tone is pessimistic, with the yellow balloons serving as a key motif, emphasising themes of isolation and searching for acceptance/f...amily. However, the optimistic conclusion highlights that we will all find our place with each other. #BetterHealthForMenandBoys Lifeline https://www.lifeline.org.au/ 13 11 14 Beyond Blue https://www.beyondblue.org.au/ 1300 22 4636
18.01.2022 Congratulations to Hugh Mayer, Hugo Markovski and Scott Keane, Year 12 Systems Engineering students who have been shortlisted for the VCAA Season of excellence, Top Designs. The event showcases the very best work of art and design students in Victoria and only a select few are chosen from each subject area for display at the Melbourne Museum. Scott created a prototype of a floating, automatic, waste-collection unit that is designed remove floating rubbish from our waterways. ...It utilises a sensor to detect floating objects, which breaks a beam to activate the conveyor system, which indexes seven times to collect the object and move it into a waste container. Hugo built an omnidirectional vehicle, designed to be able to move sideways and diagonally whilst still facing forward. To achieve this each wheel had to move independently of the others. Hugh’s system is a prototype of an automatic continuously variable transmission designed to suit a bicycle and replace the conventional derailleur and cassette. We wish these students all the best in the final selection process. Paul Barton Systems Engineering Teacher

09.01.2022 Due to the hot weather today and forecast for Wednesday 11 November, Padua College has informed our students that they have the option of wearing a blazer home in the afternoon. The blazer is still required in the morning on the way to school, as this assists students to keep track of their blazers and reflects the usually cooler temperatures at the beginning of the day. Students are also reminded to stay sun-smart and wear their hats outside.
07.01.2022 International Men’s Day is Thursday 19 November. International Men’s Day celebrates the positive value men bring to the world, their families and communities. We highlight positive role models and raise awareness of men’s wellbeing. This year's theme is Better health for men and boys. International Men’s Day encourages men to teach the boys in their lives the values, character and responsibilities of being a man. Mahatma Gandhi said, We must become the change we seek. It... is only when we all, both men and women, lead by example that we will create a fair and safe society which allows everyone the opportunity to prosper. Important facts: 75% of suicide deaths are men 92% of workplace fatalities are men 17% of sexual assault victims are men 1 in 6 men have reported experiencing emotional abuse by a partner Let us celebrate all the wonderful men we have in our community and promote the importance of men’s health.
