23.01.2022 Gut microbiota disturbance in the infant intestine following antibiotics is a predictor of developing behavioural disorders (particularly anxiety) by age 2. It increasingly appears important to put strategies in place to optimise development of the infant gut microbiome in the first twelve months - to build diversity and resilience of beneficial bacterial communities. Then, when antibiotics are necessary, it may be helpful to support the infant's gut microbiome to reach hig...her levels of recovery with evidence-based combinations of prebiotics and probiotics. Treating disruptions in gut microbiome may be a relevant component of the treatment strategy when anxiety and other behavioural disorders are associated with Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID). My PhD research project will explore further. __ #gutmicrobiome #autism #adhd #anxiety #pediatrics #antibiotics #arfid
