17.01.2022 Today we were provided with advise from our registration body on behalf of the Department of Health and Human Services, regarding Allied Health services in step 2, of moving out of stage 4 COVID restrictions. Routine care is not yet permitted Face to face therapy can begin under the following guidelines which is very similar to before.... prevent a significant change/deterioration in functional independence which would result in an escalation of care needs (e.g. an increase in frequency of treatment needed, an increased need for prescription medication due to a significant increase in pain, requirement for specialist input or review, an increase in care needs, and/or a substantial increase to anticipated recovery time associated with a delay in receiving services) provide services that are essential as part of a broader plan of care with a medical practitioner ( e.g fitting a brace post surgery ) provide services that are part of a conservative management plan to avoid or delay elective surgery (as agreed with treating team) provide services immediately following elective surgery that prevent secondary complications or aid functional recovery (as agreed with treating team). Indoor group classes are not permitted. I believe the line, requirement for a specialist input or review may mean those children who have not been monitored via Telehealth can be seen to check on progress. This does not mean ongoing therapy but a one off check. I will look into this further and we will contact the family’s who’s children have not been monitored via Telehealth over COVID lockdown.
17.01.2022 We hope you all enjoyed your Christmas Day as we did. Merry Christmas everyone.

15.01.2022 Victorian Metro Covid restrictions for Allied Health Workers will be lifted tonight at 11.59 pm. So we’re back as of tomorrow. Face to face session can now commence. From Tuesday we will be up and running as usual. Yippee. As we’ve been working from home there’s a number of things that need to be attended to tomorrow. No more need for my 2 little Telehealth helpers.

12.01.2022 Victoria's called 'The Education State' for a reason. We want kids to have the very best start in life no matter where they live. And to receive an education ...that matches their needs and supports them no matter their background. That's what makes today so special. Nearly $1.6 billion to completely transform the way students with disabilities receive support at school. We know that in the past, some kids who've needed extra help just haven't been eligible. That's made things tough at school, and tough for families. And far too many have fallen through the cracks. So we're expanding the criteria and doubling the number of students who'll receive targeted support in the classroom including kids with autism, dyslexia or complex behaviours. We'll employ specialist facilitators to help identify students' individual circumstances and needs. This new approach will focus on what a student can achieve in the classroom - rather than what they can't. It means kids will be given more opportunity to work to their strengths, in areas that interest them. And to help schools better plan and adjust support for students, we're investing in staff and skills too. 81 additional teacher roles in specialist schools. 25 coaches and new learning resources to support teachers. And 150 scholarships for existing staff to build on their skills and experience. This investment is the biggest in our state's history. And unlike anything else in the Southern Hemisphere. It marks a complete reform in how a student's needs will be identified, and how those needs will be met in the classroom. More kids will get the help they need and a fairer future. Because that's exactly what they deserve.

03.01.2022 Some of you may be aware that the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) has been lobbing and advocating on our ( Physiotherapists) behalf to ease restrictions on our practices. Unfortunately the Government is head strong on extending stage 4 restrictions for us all until the 27th September. This isn’t the outcome we wanted. The fines are enormous at $20,000. Per treatment breach and $100,000. For the business per breach. The APA will continue to lobby for us. I will keep everyone posted. I have a snap shot of the update from the APA below.

We have been advised that a meeting will take place between the Australian Physiotherapy Association and the Chief Allied Health Officer on Tuesday this week. Until then, and until we are advised otherwise, we must remain working within the parameters the Victorian Government have set for us and as we have been operating over the past 2 months. ... I’ll keep you all updated on further announcements. See more
