This award recognises staff for being proactive and innovative in minimising the challenges that can occur for students who are studying with a disability, illness, or health condition. Nicely done, Brian!

22.01.2022 Physical activity is important for both physical and mental health. The general recommendation is to aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise... each week. However, we often find that work, family obligations and other realities of daily life get in our way to be more active. Lack of physical activity is linked to a range of serious health problems including heart disease and cancer, so any form of exercise is better than none. 16.01.2022 We'd like to give a shout out to a few groups that support, or have previously supported, the Mummy Buddy Program, and which offer tremendous help to Australian families: Goodstart Early Learning Centres, Ngala, Raising happiness Parenting Services, Mentally Healthy WA, Ishar Multicultural Women’s Health Services Inc, and Ngangk Yira Aboriginal Health Centre. By the way, it's not too late to pledge to our program and help support our superhero mums. https://james-cook-university.pozible.com//the-mummy-buddy

16.01.2022 The School of Human Sciences is excited to announce the new UWA Stride program. Stride offers a free 12-week personalised exercise program designed to support ...the mental health and wellbeing of UWA students. A trained UWA mentor will provide students with one-on-one support throughout the program and will also help students find sustainable and enjoyable physical activity options that suit them outside the program. Stride has been developed using the latest research and through input from students, staff, and support groups across campus. The program complements other avenues for mental health support at UWA (e.g., counselling, medical centre, psychologists, student assist), and any of these services can provide a referral into Stride. For more information, contact Stride at [email protected], or Dr. Ben Jackson at [email protected] UWA Health Promotion Unit UWA Sport Thriving - Exercise Program for Young People UWA Students UWA Student Guild Psychology of Active, Healthy Living group UWA Faculty of Science
