17.01.2022 Since 2017, Barossa Village Aged Care Home have been using PainChek to improve pain assessment and treatment for its residents. One particularly impactful case is a 79-year-old woman who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and mixed dementia two years ago. She was becoming more agitated, aggressive and tired. She also had trouble communicating as English was not her first language. To help improve her quality of life and reduce aggression, staff adjusted her medication and their... behavioural interventions, then used PainChek to monitor pain levels and formulate an ongoing treatment plan. 11.01.2022 A recent article in Dementia and Geriatric Cognitive Disorders revealed that newly admitted nursing home residents with moderate or severe cognitive impairment were less likely to have pain-related behaviours documented by staff, compared to those with mild or no cognitive impairments.
