16.01.2022 Ive been incredibly busy the last few days. The pressure of trying to come up with new ideas / new styles can be stressfull. Doing something new runs the risk of going wrong and when Im working towards a deadline, I cant always afford that. . Before every pour, I religiously ask my husband the same question "what colours / what should I do now?" He answers accordingly, suggesting a colour scheme that may put me out of my creative limbo. Every night the ritual is the s...ame and I never do what he suggests. In frustration I furiously mix the pigments while the ideas start to flow through my mind. Haha. . Last night it went exactly like that. He threatened that he will never make another suggestion EVER.... (until tonight ofcourse!) and I decided to try something new. . I never know what Im doing but right in that moment, the ideas come in their own timing and it works out wonderfully . . 02.01.2022 Here it is. Finally completed and salvaged from the disaster that once was. Probably my smallest piece but definately my favourite. It's my favourite because it's a reminder of how much I have come in just over a short year. Not because it's perfect... Far from! When I'm feeling down and when I'm questioning if all the late nights are worth it, I look at this painting and I'm reminded of the very first one I ever made. I was so proud of it at the time, But looking back, I had... a long way to go... And still a long road awaits. (swipe to see the first sea painting I ever made) . . I poured this piece for my first pop up a few weeks ago and with time running out, I decided to put all my efforts in making just 1 rather then the 3 I intended on doing. This was supposed to be my pulling piece... The one that draws people in! After a shakey start to the day with a delayed set up and 38.5 minutes of sleep, I was ready to flip the tables and call it a day. FINALLY, I was ready to unwrap and display my favourite artwork but to my shock HORROR, as I uncovered it, I quickly realised something was wrong! . What once was a flawless mirror finish was replaced with ripples running all the way down across the entire top layer. . I was SO heart broken and what should have be an amazing start to the day seemed to be completely ruined. . A few tears later, I realised I had made LOTS of other beautiful things that I wanted to share and that it really wasn't the end of the WORLD! . Everything starts with a thought that turns into a feeling.... I refused to let that feeling control how my day went. Yes things don't always work the way we want them to, but it's important to take a step back and work with what you have to maximise the results YOU want. . I was eager to get home and fix it... I eventually did.. But this time with a completely changed mindset. It turned out beautifully! The extra layer added more depth and shine and I'm reminded that despite the obstacles and set backs, the results were worth it in the end! .
