25.01.2022 Fine motor skills having a work out this week again. Very imaginative miniature clay sculptures were completed with such concentration!

23.01.2022 Mixed media sensations have inspiration the ladies today. How cool are these watercolour and charcoal faces! Fantasy and mystical! A colourful sunset was full of blending rich colours. The rustic cottage has glass in the windows plus a foreground of pretty poppies. A brand new waterlily canvas has commenced. Big morning for everyone!



23.01.2022 Monet would be impressed with today’s class learning about his favourite subject of water lilies, and the style of art called Impressionism. Did u know that a squashed heart shape looks like a Lilypad? Look at Imogen focussing carefully.

21.01.2022 A modern style of drawing and collage where the students finished a fabulous pot of colourful flowers with creative ideas for the backgrounds. Plus a space painting and paper mache face.

21.01.2022 Trelyse loves colourful clouds, and is painting a beautiful canvas for her room. We all think it is both elegant and superb!



21.01.2022 Inspired by the Holmes Junior Realistic Bird Competition at Mary Cairncross Park the students painted blue winged kookaburras. Others free styled with their own wonderful ideas. For pottery the completed projects ranged from majestic elephants to faces. What a creative day! Well done everyone for the very first holiday session!

19.01.2022 The art movement Post Impressionism arrived at Paintbox today. Students discovered the unique painting style, interests and colours of Van Gogh. Haven’t they managed his brush strokes brilliantly! These were inspired by Starry Night.

16.01.2022 What a pretty pot of flowers. These are coloured with watercolour pencils. Becca has done a marvellous job of using pressure to achieve lightness and darker shading. It is collages, then acrylic paint for the table cloth. A delightful artwork Becca.

16.01.2022 My talented NDIS client Peter Rowe sold his Teddy painting today to Dee who arrived to pick it up during our studio time. So very proud to be part of Peter’s life, supporting his creative endeavours.

13.01.2022 Today Paulette finished her project. Well done! A fabulous gift for your sister! Pretty sunset is showing blending and careful brushwork with the flat brush on the side. Another unique charcoal portrait with attitude. WaterLilly wonderland on soft pastel colours, Monet would be impressed. Really lovely creative vibe in the studio.

12.01.2022 Our adult groups this week were constructing large clay boots, and decorating a fired surfboard. Painters were layering up a luscious green pine forest and a Monet inspired garden.

12.01.2022 Wow yesterday there was Darren and Bek from @developmentaltherapies visiting the studio to view Peter Rowe ‘s artwork, and purchasing 7 pieces. What a successful morning for any working artist. Congratulations Peter, very proud of you!

12.01.2022 Exciting creative charcoal and watercolour portraits with mystical characteristics being a fun project today. Briskly walking Ladies with handbags and parasols were completed. W-I-P water lily series having its third layer; and the country cottage more work on the front timber and bushes, almost finished. Wonderful day of artistic, colourful and joyful energies, with soft grey skies outside.

11.01.2022 Having fun day with Peter Rowe in the studio making new textures on the large canvases. Rubbing painted hands over the surfaces is really active.

10.01.2022 There are many times these students totally amaze me with their focus, attention to detail and imagination. From deadly snakes in water colour to oil pastel underwater scenes, more fantastic Australian birds, a dog in a pumpkin (yes), and creative approaches to digital portraits are this weeks’ projects. Have a look and be impressed by their talents!!

10.01.2022 Here is 5 year old John who has joined the paintbox family. He wanted to draw and paint his grandfather fishing at the beach. He is a real artist coming up with his own ideas to add to his artwork. Magnificent mixed media piece with oil pastels, collage for his fish and watercolours to finish.

10.01.2022 Monet would be proud of our beginner Impressionist session this morning. Layering tissue paper to start, then painting onto this. Fascinating to see the works nearly completed with tendrils if weeping willow in the foreground. Water colour flowers joined in our floral theme too. Plus Gatsby reborn, mixed media with a pretty multi layer stencilled background. Well done ladies!

09.01.2022 Tamara used charcoal to draw this dramatic friendship picture. She has achieved gorgeous lights and shades.

09.01.2022 Wednesday saw a brave diver swimming with colourful sea creatures using oil pastels and watercolours. Also collaging, drawing flowers with soft pastels, shading techniques and learning how to cut the perfect butterfly shape to glue on.

09.01.2022 Wow what an awesome group of exotic and cute animals and majestic and colourful birdlife visited the studio this afternoon. Thank you everyone for your personal paintings which were all very beautiful. Loved seeing your drawing and painting skills being shown. Youyang painted a pretty beach scene too!

09.01.2022 The Paintbox Portrait Girls had a magical mixed media journey today with artistic sponging using acrylic paint for their backgrounds, printing over the top, charcoal faces with toning, dribble black paint and details with felt pens. Look at these serene faces, what a delight to see!

08.01.2022 More Mother and Daughter Love! Layla has a schnauzer and painted this awesome canvas, delightful personality, dry brush and layering, while mum painted a beautiful flower detail with such care. Lovely afternoon = relaxing art!

08.01.2022 Trelyse completed her detailed watercolour, how impressive is this! Because finished her fabulous underwater scene with watercolours and oil pastel. The lesson we recycled foam trays and draw then painted on them. The whiskers were added as texture with copper wire. Very clever designs girls.

08.01.2022 Studying Picasso this week. This is Kenzie’s colourful double face which looks fabulous! Everyone learnt how he combined 2 faces, half of a profile and half straight on.

07.01.2022 Monet inspired waterscapes are still inspiring the students today. Paulette felt like drawing with her gorgeous Derwent water colour pencils, completing a rustic homestead. Valerie is working on shutters and terracotta pots on her Tuscan scene.

06.01.2022 Dee painted her fired clay mask, and Duane finished the first boot which will be put in her garden when it is fired and glazed. Fabulous pottery ladies!

06.01.2022 Congratulations to the clever girls attending our Paint and Sip Session (Bubbly Brushes) today. The girls learnt mixing colours, lots of layering and tricky paintbrush techniques like dry brush, and added magical dragonflies.

04.01.2022 Our digital whiz Ruby created this fantastic mystical portraiture using the App Procreate. She draws the structure on the screen, then layers the rest of the artwork. I love the movement of her hair and the textured background. Congratulations, what a talent u are!

02.01.2022 Afternoon Delight! Paintbox welcomed a creative group of young ladies for a Bubbly Brushes this afternoon. With sunsets in mind, these artists explored colour mixing and blending techniques using many different types of brushes. What creative finishing details they have added!

02.01.2022 Wow, look at these superb new birds being painted for the Holmes Realistic Australian Bird comp. The students are very excited to be part of this exciting event Mary Cairncross Reserve. Can’t wait to see how they go! Oops we also have a sneaky watercolour slithery snake to show you by Trelyse, and some underwater life with oil pastels. Look for the layering of paint and stippling techniques!
