A plain cushion can be painted, or paint your design on a length of fabric and use it to sew your own cushion cover. Take plain fabric squares and decorate them with the same pattern in different colour combinations to make coordinated fabrics to use for a quilt. Plain fabric lampshades make a good painting surface and make a good alternative to more expensive lampshades. A white silk scarf can be painted with silk paints to make a one-of-a-kind, wearable item.

25.01.2022 Stamps Effect - Rubber stamps have become widely available in almost every style imaginable and can be found in the scrap booking department of craft stores. If you want to make a stamp from your own design, this can be fairly easily achieved at home. For simple designs, you could cut a potato in half and carve the design. Small designs can be carved into a rubber eraser with a craft knife. Styrofoam, high-density foam and linoleum are all available for making your own stamps.... You should brush the paint onto the printing surface of the stamp rather than dipping the stamp in the paint. This prevents the stamp from picking up too much paint and means you can apply different colours to different parts of the stamp. Rubber stamping gives endless options when it comes to painting fabric: you could place the stamps randomly over the fabric and change the angle of the image; create a border by stamping a neat line along the side of the fabric; or arrange the stamps in a geometric pattern. 08.01.2022 Let's look at different paint effects: Different paint effects can be created using various household tools and some different methods. Entirely different effects are produced by varying the amount of paint you use, the thickness of the paint and the tool you use to apply it to the fabric. A sponge dipped in paint will create a dappled effect, and you could try layering different colours of paint as an all over pattern. Paint brushes of any size from wide decorating brushes ...to fine artists' brushes can be used. To soften your paint lines and make gentle transitions from one colour to another, wet the fabric and water down the fabric paint a little. Using wetter fabric and thinner paint will cause a greater bleeding effect on the fabric. To cover a large area, thin down the fabric paint with water and use a spray bottle to sprits the fabric. Masking tape can be used to cover parts of fabric that you do not want to paint. See more

05.01.2022 Stencils can be bought from a craft store or easily made at home using card or special stencil plastic and a utility knife. When painting with stencils, make sure the stencil is held in place on the fabric by taping it at the corners with masking tape. Dab the paint onto the fabric with a stiff brush, tapping vertically rather than making paint strokes. Remove the stencil very carefully and wait for the paint to dry completely. Also make sure your paint is not too thin as it may bleed under the stencil.
