20.01.2022 "He said that what they beheld was but a decoration. He said that anyway it was not so much a question of a correct map but of any map at all. He said that in that country were fires and earthquakes and floods and that one needed to know the country itself and not simply the landmarks therein. Besides, he said, when had that old man last journeyed to those mountains? Or journeyed anywhere at all? His map was after all not really so much a map as a picture of a voyage. And wha...t voyage was that? And when?" The one and only... Cormac McCarthy. This one lifted from my favorite of his The Crossing Untitiled (The Lost World Track) 2019 acrylic and enamel on paper 76x56cm Adrian Bradbury

20.01.2022 "The world has no name, he said. The names of the cerros and the sierras and the deserts exist only on maps. We name them that we do not lose our way. Yet it was because the way was lost to us already that we have made those names. The world cannot be lost. We are the ones. And it is because these names and these coordinaes are our own naming that they cannot save us. That they cannot find for us the way again." 19.01.2022 Thrilled that my painting Ambivalence, The Lost World Track, kunanyi, 2019 is on its way to a collector in Japan via https://www.singulart.com/en/artist/adrian-bradury-11681 I've had long had a fascination with Japan, which grew from my fledging Bonzai collection begun at the age of 12 or 13? Culminating in 8 months spent working in the kitchen of a hotel in Hakuba over a couple of very memorable ski seasons in 2012 and 2013. I couldn't be happier to find that one of my abstract landscapes based on a local walking track have found accord with someone in the land of the rising sun!

17.01.2022 Here's a dodgy time lapse vid (complete with corny music) of the new painting in process. Revealing a few of the many layers that make up the texture and colours of the final piece. As with all art though, best seen in the flesh... Moonah Arts Centre May 9th opening.

12.01.2022 These two paintings will be on display at the Derwent Sailing Squadron at Sandy Bay, in a group show In The Elements, opening 4:30pm Friday night.

11.01.2022 I'm running an 8 week course, two hours every Friday morning starting this Friday. The focus will be on engaging ways to make an interesting and 'expressive' mess with paint. We will go through various non-conventional techniques for applying paint to canvas. Using a range of tools from rags to knifes, and rollers.... Paintings will begin from observational studies, still-lifes, plein-airs, photographs, collages, but will take on a life of there own, a life where the medium of paint, and its application to surface guides the way forward.

08.01.2022 Two of my small paintings are on their way to a collector in Texas. Via my page @ https://www.singulart.com/en/artist/adrian-bradury-11681 One is a plein air panel painted in a rush at sunset out on The Blade, Cape Pillar, Tasman Peninsula, where I had hiked out to with my paint box, and bivy bag. The second is from my Lost World series, which was shown at my Rosny Show this time last year - feels like a few years ago though! Hope they travel well!

07.01.2022 He said that in any case a bad map was worse than no map at all for it engendered in the traveler a false confidence and might easily cause him to set aside those instincts which would otherwise guide him if he would but place himself in their care. He said that to follow a false map was to invite disaster. Cormac McCarthy, The Crossing Untitled (The Lost World Track) 2019... acrylic and enamel on paper 76x56cm Adrian Bradbury See more

03.01.2022 This oil painting on unstretched canvas, can be seen hanging at @wildernessgallery until late March. As part of my solo show Navigating the Boulder-fields of kunanyi. . Layers of Boulders and glimpses of red and yellow track markers feature heavily in these paintings, as they so do on the track itself, which is a great ramble high up above the city of Hobart, on the ever changing kunanyi (Mt Wellington) . .... . . . . #unstretchedcanvas #canvas #freeformpainting #layeredpaintings #texture #frottage #livingtexture #rocks #boulders #trackmarkers #kunanyi #mtwellington #hobart #cradlemountain #colorfieldpainting #colorschool #newyorkschool #helenfrankenthaler #morrislouis #robertmotherwell #friedeldzubas #markrothko See more

02.01.2022 "For although each man among them was discrete unto himself, conjoined they made a thing that had not been before and in that communal soul were wastes hardly reckonable more than those whited regions on old maps where monsters do live and where there is nothing other of the known world save conjectural winds. Cormac McCarthy, Blood Meridian, or the Evening Redness in the West
