25.01.2022 In his 1996 hit song, "Where It's At", Beck proudly proclaimed he "got two turntables and a microphone". Which is great for him, but unfortunately of no use to us here at Pakapakanthi parkrun. Instead, we need 2 marshals and... wait for it... a tail walker!!! Additionally, if someone wants to check the course during their warm up, the event day course check role is open too. This involves covering the entire 2.5km of our course and reporting to the run director by 7:45am.... You know the drill - sign up by messaging directly, commenting below or via email. If not this week we are very, very light on in the coming weeks so if you've been contemplating donning the orange, ponder no longer and sign on up.

25.01.2022 Hey there team! How are you all tracking? We miss you and can’t wait til we’re all back together. Until then, let’s post some of your at home, free workouts! ... What’s your favourite? Squats with some water bottles, online yoga classes, dance it out? Rules are- at home, props for no additional extra equipment needed, and must be free! Let’s keep the parkrun tradition alive- accessible, free, and fun!

23.01.2022 How was your Sunday? Fresh from 5 volunteer roles between them yesterday AND recorded times (you can volly and run/jog/walk), Pakapakanthi parkrun's Matt Stark and Ben O'Brien smashed their marathon PBs in the Barossa this morning. To be fair, it was Matt's first marathon and he'll be scanning your barcodes on Saturday, be sure to congratulate him.

19.01.2022 Woohoo! One week and one day to go! Our volunteer roster isn't looking the healthiest and just like in the pre-COVID days, a sick roster means everyone has to stay at home. It'd be great to turn all the red slots green by the end of this weekend and have a full roster for the first three weeks. Please let us know how and when you'd like to help in a comment, message or email to [email protected].

19.01.2022 It's official. We are back this Saturday 5 December. Who. Is. Excited? There will be some changes but our need for volunteers remains unchanged. We still require someone to hand out Finish Tokens, 2 x Barcode Scanners, a Photographer and a Marshal for this week. Please let us know if you can help us out this week or in the near future.... As an event with a Covid-Safe plan we will have a QR code for you to scan and check in at the event so please allow a little extra time and #dfyb & #dontforgetyoursmartphone. Stay tuned to this page for further updates and reminders of other changes to expect upon our return. #loveparkrun

18.01.2022 Tomorrow is ANZAC Day. Whilst we can't meet to acknowledge this together, let's get alongside this movement. After you have commemorated this event, it would be a perfect opportunity for you to have a comptemplative run by yourself in your local area

17.01.2022 So just because we are not meeting tomorrow, doesn't mean that you get out of your run! Go for a run/walk/jog with your partner or family tomorrow and try something different. Try a trail or along the beach. Go for 2.5ks, support a cafe and buy a takeaway coffee and then jog back balancing that coffee. Post below what you did. The more creative the better :-)

17.01.2022 On your marks! Get set! WAIT The implementation of new restrictions around COVID-19 is causing some confusion about our 'Return to parkrun', this coming Saturday. ... The regulations are being carefully considered and clarification has been sought by parkrun Australia. We will bring you the decision when it is handed to us. In the meantime, thank you for your patience. Please stay COVID-safe.

17.01.2022 Hang in there folks - we will get through this eventually

14.01.2022 Hey, so, if you, like, haven’t volunteered in a while how about checking out our roster and register to volunteer. If you signed up during the break and aren’t quite ready to tackle the 5kms then volunteering is a great way to start your parkrun journey. Simply check out the volunteer page on the Pakapakanthi parkrun website. https://www.parkrun.com.au/pakapakanthi/futureroster/ Our core team members that are available for the restart have jumped on the roster for the 21st so... it’s a great opportunity for new volunteers to join an experienced team. Now is also a great time to download/ update the virtual volunteer app and familiarise yourself with the COVID-19 Volunteer Code.

13.01.2022 We are very pleased to announce that when parkrun comes back, we have become accredited to hold nurkrap - all participants must run/jog/walk backwards to qualify for a finishing token. We look forward to putting this new spin on things when we re open!

12.01.2022 Pakapakanthi is honoured to be on Kaurna County and to take our name from Kaurna language.

11.01.2022 Morning Pakapakanthians! First parkrun Saturday in May and what a morning for it! RD Kat here- ... I know so many people turn to parkrun for their first runs (I know I did, and let’s say... there was ugly crying during it!) we keep coming back for the community, and that drive to keep doing better - or at least be consistent. This is harder than ever now, for a lot of us, myself included. Head out for your Saturday morning run (or whenever you can fit it in a head days!) Set yourself the same measurements in your run as you do at parkrun. Do a dance at the turnaround point because you are HALFWAY THERE BABY!!!! 400m to go? That’s the distance from Halifax where our vollies cheer you on to the FINISH LINE!!! You can do this. Even if it’s been a while, even if it’s been inconsistent (or non existent!) YOUVE GOT THIS!!! Get out and go for a walk or run, even if it’s around your block or even your backyard. parkrun will be back, and your team here at Pakapakanthi are so ready to welcome you with all the high 5s and tokens we can throw at you (you can keep the high 5, but return the tokens ) Post your non-parkrun selfies below, We miss seeing you all so much

05.01.2022 When SA parkrun events return in just 8 DAYS (you better believe we’re counting down) they will all be transitioning to the Virtual Volunteer app This won’t change much at Paka where we’ve always used the app, but we do encourage you to download the latest version. The techies have made some great updates and the Run Director team are keen to put them to use. T-8 ... #loveparkrun See more
