25.01.2022 The demolition of the old clubhouse is well underway... it should be completed by the end of next week, then the umbrella’s can be moved into place from the Banks green. After a lot of hard work, things are beginning to take shape as planned.

22.01.2022 Great to see everyone having a great time

21.01.2022 Good to see Barefoot Bowls up and running again with a group from Elders Pakenham having a great time before the roof construction continues from tomorrow through December 2020. The club is looking forward to having Barefoot bowls up and running again under the new roof with lights, music and of cause the bar open in early January 2021 The club will have a completely new look about it. All welcome on Friday night from then on to come along and view the facilities, try Barefoot bowls and have a drink with your friends and family. The club has bowls for all ages.

21.01.2022 More works completed at the club today thanks to The Concrete Artist. Now for the umbrella’s to be moved into place later next week.

21.01.2022 Finally after many frustrating months the old clubhouse is finally down. Now just the new wall in the toilet block to go up, hopefully finished by end of next week then the new Colourbond fence will go in matching the existing one from the gate park gate. Plus in the next couple of weeks the umbrella’s from the Banks green will be moved to their new position on the Crowley green from the toilet block running back to the clubhouse. The look of the club is certainly going to change dramatically over the coming months.

20.01.2022 The last foundation hole being dug today and the steel is going in to the holes for the concrete tomorrow. Hopefully the rain stays away.

18.01.2022 A very successful AGM was held today via Zoom with Voota ( Club Chairperson ) in charge. A big thanks to all those who attended and we have all positions filled now to move into the coming Bowls season. Some good ideas were put forward and more club members becoming involved, so when we get back to bowls and with the new roof in place the future is looking very good for the Pakenham Bowls Club.

18.01.2022 HI-LO DAY 2021 It may not have been exactly tropical on Friday night - fortunately, however, the hail and extremely cold wind which had been predicted failed to put in an appearance. I had thought (hoped) that more members would have taken the opportunity to experience what it is like to bowl at night under the lights of the McRedmond/Laird Dome but the numbers were down on what might have been expected. Nevertheless, the twenty players (a select and hardy bunch) who... did turn out for the event enjoyed four short games of three bowl pairs, played under modified rules. Names were literally thrown into the hat for a blind draw which worked out quite well in terms of levelling out the competition and when play stopped for a meal after the first two games, only one of the ten teams had two wins under its belt. As usual, Faye and Lesley had been doing their thing in the kitchen (not a bad place to be on a wintery night) and when players came in from the cold they were greeted with a selection of soups, warm bread rolls and dessert - a fantastic job yet again ladies as always, your support was greatly appreciated! The weather gods also helped out as the worst of the showers arrived while every one was inside eating and had passed over by the time play resumed (even under cover of the dome, the rain and accompanying wind would have been unpleasant). Nevertheless, by that stage the temperature had dropped noticeably by a few degrees. Conditions can’t have been too bad however, as the participants voted to play two more games after the break although given the option of coming back inside after only one. Clear winners on the night and the only team with four wins, was the gun pairing of Steve Krusty Bentley and Gary Pincott. Runner Up with three good wins and a narrow loss was Stormin Norm Box and Brian Norton. Reg Wombat Mattingly took the prize for the first (and only) resting toucher of the evening. All in all it was an interesting experiment and a good night out. My thanks to all those who participated, particularly Kevin Murphy and Gary Pincott who happily replaced a couple of late withdrawals at the last minute. Des Leigh
