25.01.2022 With possible changes or continuation of the public health restrictions to be announced over the weekend, its time we check in on our members. How are you all tracking? We welcome you to reach out to family and friends (including your Motorsport Family at PAC) if you are struggling, and maybe even check-in with someone who you haven't heard from in a while. If you are really struggling with the restrictions and would like a professional ear to talk too we recommend you reach ...out to Beyond Blue: 1300 22 46 36. They are well catered to assist you with your mental well-being and can help you through an immediate crisis and connect you with long term assistance. They also have an online chat available for counselling too if you would like to keep your conversation quiet, visit www.beyondblue.org.au for more information. Take care in there, together we can get through this.

13.01.2022 With some Motorsport returning, anyone got any car related plans for the long weekend? Pics appreciated! :)

13.01.2022 We have a working bee this weekend, with a few jobs that need to be completed so we can start getting towards the next stage (see the full details in our events). In order to protect our community please see the attached Social Distancing Guide that will be in effect for the time being. Stay safe and see you all soon!

13.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who has already responded! Here is a repost for those who may have missed it.... Request for Trade Support - EOI... Although we have not been able to do anything publicly, our committee have been active behind the scenes securing what is required to make our Club one of the leading community motorsport facilities in Australia. The processing of our Planning Permit was delayed by the Planning Minister however we are excited to announce it is now progressing through the Cardinia Council, with approval only several weeks away. Both the Pakenham Auto Club Committee and Cardinia Council are happy with the way things are moving. We have also been allocated grants totalling $43k through the Cardinia Capitol Grants Scheme. The grants are on a ‘dollar for dollar’ basis and will allow us to complete three projects: - New toilet blocks - New septic tank system - Replace several badly deteriorated windows Other projects will quickly follow as the COVID-19 Restrictions allow. Obviously these projects will require substantial work involving many different disciplines. Our projects will require all the usual permits and as expected we must use qualified and licensed trades or builders, not volunteer labour. So we are calling out to members who would be prepared to undertake projects for the Club. Some of the skills we need include: - Qualified Builders - Electrical - Plumbing - Carpenters - Concreting - Drainage - Painting - Brickwork - Earthmoving If you think you can help, even its just providing some advice, please contact: Leon Prosser, 0407 552 047 or [email protected] John Carney, 0467 067 068 or [email protected] Nick Wright, 0427 443 821 or [email protected] Greg Wyatt, 0429 382368 or [email protected] or you can message us directly through Facebook!

12.01.2022 Hope you are all staying dry and warm. Desperate times call for desperate attempts for your Motorsport fix.

12.01.2022 Its a very special weekend this weekend, with hopefully further positive changes to the COVID restrictions! Post pics of your weekend plans as we get ready to come out of lockdown!

12.01.2022 Our former grounds keeper and longstanding member John Hill turns 70 today! We hope you had a great day and are celebrating it in style. We wouldn't be the club we are without you- from everyone at PAC

12.01.2022 And here's our other contender in this year's Rally of the Bay! Good luck MGM, times are in their post...

10.01.2022 Please see this important announcement from Motorsport Australia regarding your licences for 2020.

10.01.2022 Changes to processing Club Plate Permits The Corona Virus lockdown has forced us to implement some severe restrictions on processing Club Plate vehicles. The requirements of the lock down, bans on moving more that 5km from home and the need to protect the health and safety of our officials means we will only be processing renewals by mail and not processing any new applications until the restrictions are lifted. NEW APPLICATIONS... Processing new applications of necessity involves face to face time with our Club officials and we do not believe this is allowed under the lockdown restrictions. Regardless of that, we cannot put our officials in any situation that may expose them to the virus. Effective immediately, we will not be processing ANY new applications for Club Plate Permits until the lockdown ends. RENEWALS We will continue to process Club Plate Permit renewals but this can only be carried out without any face to face contact. VicRoads will only accept original signed documents so the original must be signed by Club Officials. Effective immediately, permit renewals can only be processed by mailing the renewal form to our Club Plate Registrar for processing: Mail to: Graham Begelole High-tech Special Vehicles 18 Westernport Rd Lang Lang 3984 5997 5555 Include copy of current membership card and a stamped envelope for return of the paperwork. Graham will return the signed form to you by mail. Obviously, we are all looking forward to the restrictions being lifted and hopefully these arrangements will not cause too much inconvenience. Regards Leon Prosser President Pakenham Auto Club [email protected] 0407552047

03.01.2022 Today's announcement has been another disappointment for those Victorians who were hoping for relief from the COVID restrictions. Like all people involved in Motorsport, many of us who have been looking forward to an exciting 2020 have had to defer our hope yet again as the toll on the mental health of Victorians continues to grow. As a grass-roots club motivated to connected like-minded motorsport enthusiasts we encourage you to take this time to reach out to someone and tal...k. No one needs to journey this alone, and as a club that has predominantly older male membership we know all too well about the brave-face we can wear while we struggle in private. The Committee of Pakenham Auto Club extend an open invitation to its members to simply pick-up the phone and call. Maybe its to complain about the lack of events, talk cars, discuss Bathurst or maybe even chat about feelings and how we may or may not be coping. It doesn't matter, we can get through this together, even if it is at a distance over the phone. Feel free to reach out to any of us! 02.01.2022 We are needing your help! Do you have old photos of your exploits with Pakenham Auto Club? We are building an archive in getting ready for our 50 year anniversary, and would love as many pictures as possible. If you are able to help please let us know. If you only have printed photos we can arrange to have them professionally scanned and restored for you too! Please let us know via private message if you can help.

02.01.2022 VALE Ted Perkins 1961 - 2020 It is with a great deal of sadness that I sit and write this for Member 439 Ted Perkins, who slipped quietly away to that great raceway in the sky on Thursday evening. I would like to offer Di, Joel and Amelia our sincerest condolences at this time. If there is anything the club can do in anyway please just ask. ... Ted joined the Pakenham Auto Club in August 1994, although he had already being a competitor at our autocross' prior to this date. He had been a long time friend of Life member Mick Kelly. His quest in 1994 was to become part of the PAC Winton Six Hour relay race in his Volvo rally car. Ted competed in many PAC events over the next twenty six years and was a great friend and mentor to many in the club. He competed in more than twenty circuit races quite often winning his class in his Mk 1 Lotus Cortina, he has a replica Lotus Cortina that he used in many rallies, he would talk about his adventures in the Classic Outback Trial or Alpine rallies for hours. He was a terrific help at club events over many years acting as course checker, road closure official and Six Hour team manager being just some of many jobs he gladly took on. Last Saturday I had morning tea with Ted, son Joel, John Hadden and fellow club member Tim Craig at his factory in Moorabbin where he was helping his son Joel in rebuilding Joel's Excel Rally car, it is a lovely memory that I can reflect on forever. RIP Ted John Carney Vice President
