08.01.2022 As we all start to think about a return to the courts after COVID-19, it's important that coaches start to think about their training plans. Trainings are the time coaches have the biggest opportunity to impact the basketball skills of a player. Director of Coaching, Brett Paxton is passionate about coaching, working hard with coaches of all levels to ensure they get the best from their players. Brett says "All coaches should be spending the majority of their time encourag...ing and providing feedback to your players. Not working out what the next drill is going to be." How do coaches fix this and make training more efficient? We create a basketball session plan. A structured training session covers: 1. Warm Up / Body Movement 2. Skill Work 3. Team Strategies 4. Scrimmage 5. Cool Down Click on the link to read about each section more detail. https://wp.me/P8cIei-WS

07.01.2022 Basketball Australia stands behind all Government initiatives that continue to keep our community informed and increase the likelihood of our sport re-commencin...g as soon as is deemed safe. The Australian Government, in partnership with leading medical organisations, has recently launched the COVIDSafe App to help keep the community safe from further spread of coronavirus through early notification of possible exposure. All sporting organisations have a role to play in helping stop the spread of COVID-19, ensuring we can get sport back up and running across Australia. Basketball Australia would like all those in the basketball community to download and register for the COVIDSafe app and encourages all sporting codes and their communities to do the same. 05.01.2022 What a year :( Disappointing but the health and safety of the community takes precedence. There's always next year
04.01.2022 Our primary concern remains the health and wellbeing of the basketball community and the return of domestic basketball when it is deemed safe and appropriate. ...These two principles will be considered when assessing the return of representative basketball. At this stage Big V 2020 is postponed until May 31, with the next assessment/ update on May 11, 2020. See more
04.01.2022 As life begins to transition back to normal, we are pleased to see these restrictions lift. However, this does not automatically mean that basketball competition and training will commence. The reopening of the stadium basketball courts will be for casual shooting and is not an open invitation for teams to commence training. We will communicate the return to play plan as soon as we are aligned with Basketball Victoria guidelines. Reminder: there are no sanctioned training sessions allowed for BigV or VJBL at this stage.
04.01.2022 Say hello to your 2021 Youth League Women! We can't wait for the new season to start and see what these girls can do on the court. Congratulations to all and we encourage you to get behind Aaron, Warren and the team in 2021.
04.01.2022 A reminder to remain vigilant regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus). If a person is supposed to be in self-isolation/quarantine because of the existence of COVID-19 in a workplace, school or elsewhere, we ask that you follow the advice of authorities, including Basketball Victoria. The individual must not participate in basketball activities, whether or not they have any symptoms, until the isolation period has expired. We confirm that as of today (12 March) all games will proceed as scheduled.

If you were not selected for a team, we encourage you to continue to play hard in your domestic teams and come back again next year when tryouts are announced for the new season.... http://pakenhamwarriors.com.au/2021teams/
02.01.2022 COVID-19 and social isolation rules may have stopped basketball at the moment, but it hasn't stopped the creativity of our 16.1 girls, led by Matt Innes. Check out the Tik Tok from Matt and the girls below. So what are you and your team doing to help stay connected in the basketball community? Comment your best Tik Tok, video or photo of how you and your team are staying connected.
02.01.2022 The Australian Government has announced the closure of all non-essential services in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19. This includes public aquatic facilities and health clubs. Unfortunately this means that from 12.00pm today, Cardinia Life will be closed to the public until further notice. We thank you for your continued understanding during this unusual time and ask you all to stay safe and follow the appropriate guidelines.
01.01.2022 We're coming to the end of tryouts and with one session to go, who will become a Warrior in 2021? U12's - U18's will have their final session on Friday, 18 December and U21's on Sunday, 20 December. Team announcements will be posted on the website and Facebook prior to Christmas. Good luck to all athletes. A reminder of tryout times, click here: http://pakenhamwarriors.com.au/2019-20-vjbl-tryouts-2/

01.01.2022 Well it's not the worst news we've heard today! While we wait for ongoing news about actually playing in any official capacity in 2020, this certainly opens up the ability to get some outdoor activity with your team mates, within the appropriate guidelines and rules. Follow the rules. Don't push the boundaries. Do the right thing. If we continue to follow the rules we will hopefully be able to take to the courts again soon.
