23.01.2022 Funded through WA Community Crime Prevention Fund, this project aims to portray mothers in law (MiL) as positive role models. Unfortunately, the negative roles play by few, overshadows their presence and it is perceived that all MiLs have the same persona. In this short clip, we introduce you to real MiLs of Pakistan who all say NO to family Violence.

13.01.2022 Overseas flight loans Are you, or do you know of people unable to return to Australia due to COVID-19 restrictions and are experiencing financial distress? If so you may be eligible for a one-off loan to help cover the costs of a flight to return to Australia. If eligible, you will need to commit to repay the loan within an agreed period. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade will then attempt to book a flight for you through the Australian Government travel provider, ...QBT. Airlines decide the availability of flight options, cost and to whom seats are offered. Be prepared that airlines may delay or cancel flights and may have other requirements for travel, including COVID-19 tests. See the full list of eligibility criteria, conditions and FAQs at https://www.smartraveller.gov.au//covid-19-overseas-financ. If you have been trying to return to Australia and haven’t been able to do so, you should register with DFAT.

13.01.2022 INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS IN AUSTRALIA: ANOTHER STUDENT ATTACKED & WAITING FOR COMPASSION Australians will remember year 2020, as a year of resilience and coming together as one community. The year started with bushfires, followed by Covid19 outbreak and now finally we are ready to enjoy the holiday season. While celebrations are due, one segment of the community, which is feeling deserted, is the international student community. Mental health issues among international students... were at its peak in April-May period when there were no jobs, no classes and fears about family back home. The Commonwealth of Australia was very clear in articulating that the international students will not be able to get any support at this very unfortunate time. Among the affected students, is Danyal Waheed from Pakistan who was studying Mechanics in Victoria. All of a sudden, he had no job, no rent to pay, no food to eat. The family back in Pakistan could not afford to help as they were dealing with COVID outbreak in Pakistan. Danyal was not able to confide in them and kept all the issues to himself letting go of health insurance. A further blow to this young energetic boy was physical assault on 29th September in Melbourne causing life-threatening injuries including broken ribs, punctured lungs, broken hips, damaged vital organs. For 16 days, he fought for his life in ICU and still struggles with mobility and other issues. He has no family support due to flight restrictions from Pakistan and is being looked after by the volunteers of a Pakistani community organization in Melbourne who have been looking after him and are communicating with his family back in Pakistan. The road to recovery is long. He still has to go through physiotherapies, brain MRI, chest x-rays, pelvic x-rays IVC device removal which was inserted to prevent prevent life-threatening pulmonary emboli. This device is still in his body and needs to be removed. The hospital bill is almost AUD 200,000.00 and the remaining procedure costs will need to be paid upfront which is a huge amount for family who have no assets to pay back. Through this letter, we request the Honorable Prime Minister Scott Morrison to intervene and offer him medical facilities, free of cost. While the family would like him to return home, it is neither in his best interest to fly home give his condition and required treatment, nor there are flights, let alone the affordability of the flights. This small step will show to the world that Australians care about international students and will stand by with them when it comes to their safety and well-being. Let’s do it. Dr. Zarrin S Siddiqui President PAKISTANIS IN AUSTRALIA INC.

04.01.2022 Dear all, SILENCE IS NOT AN OPTION Pakistanis in Australia is concerned about the coverage of #GAZA genocide on #SBS. So far there is no video statement from any Palestinian Spokeperson neither any written post of Palestinian authorities with their name that is covered by SBS BUT Israeli PM videos statements, their army chief and spokespersons narrative is covered widely on daily basis If you feel Australian media is not covering attack on Gaza appropriately or want SBS to ...be aware with community sentiments and feelings on issue of GAZA situation, please submit your message here and raise the issue that #SBS is not covering Gaza atrocities in balance and occupiers/ Aggressors version is in limelight. https://help.sbs.com.au/hc/en-au/requests/new SBS is running a campaign of fundraising for indian Covid support but no supporting campaign for families of Gaza whose childern and women are killed. Community should submit feedback to UNICEF as well. https://www.unicef.org.au/contact-us UNICEF is supposed to work for children and Israeli atrocities has impacted GAZA children the most in percentage as compare to children impacted by COIVD. But UNICEF is running COVID fundraising with SBS. See more
