25.01.2022 Always Was, Always Will Be. The poster for this year's NAIDOC Week shown below, is called Shape of Land, and was designed by Tyrown Waigana, a Noongar and Saibai Islander man. His beautiful art tells the story of how the Rainbow Serpent came out of the Dreamtime to create this land. It is represented by the snake and it forms the shape of Australia, which symbolises how it created our lands. The figure inside the shape of Australia is a representation of Indigenous Australia...ns, showing that this country - since the dawn of time - Always Was, Always Will Be Aboriginal Land. You can read more about Tyrown and his artwork at https://www.naidoc.org.au//tyrown-waigana-winner-2020-naid

22.01.2022 We’ve seen that feeling of independence coming back. People are actually having to deal with money again, which gets them thinking. In particular, the people who work in the store, they use an actual cash register so they’re having to do the maths.

19.01.2022 Greg had many visitors over those last few days, it was more like a celebration than saying goodbye. So many people came and laughed and cried. He didn’t feel much like eating but said all he wanted a chocolate éclair. The wonderful photo of Greg by Eve Jeffery is the overall winner of Palliative Care Australia's 2020 Art competition. And with 288 entries she had a lot of competition! Congratulations to all the winners!

17.01.2022 We love this really thoughtful example of a community supporting those in aged care during the pandemic.

17.01.2022 Nurse practitioners in aged care are the future; it’s the way to go. Governments have to understand that if you have somebody on site who’s medically trained and can help avoid unnecessary hospital admissions, it can take away pressure from the whole system.

14.01.2022 There is a new report out which looks at what it takes for Compassionate Communities to thrive in Australia. The research was initiated by The Groundswell Project and facilitated by Western Sydney University’s Caring at End of Life research team. After two years working with nine different community groups around the country, we have learnt a huge amount about what it takes for communities to develop this work and build capacity to better support each other at the end of lif...e. You can read more about compassionate communities and find a range of relevant resources on our website at https://palliativecarewa.asn.au/compassionate-communities/ Click on the link below to access the report.
