24.01.2022 Were boldly asking Australia to step up and meet these challenges: Who will you reconnect with today? Tomorrow? And the next? Who will you reach out to tod...ay? Tomorrow? And the next? And who will you assure that theres no shame in asking for help on any day they say no? Find tips to get the conversation started at www.ruok.org.au

24.01.2022 Hi all, its time for me to interrupt your news feeds with a dash of some serious face booking. As some of you know I work for a super awesome charity called the Ted Noffs Foundation. I work within PALM: the drug and alcohol rehab team in Randwick. Our clients are 13 to 18 year old kids with serious drug, sexual abuse, crime, family and mental health backgrounds (lots of really traumatic stuff). Most of these kids are lacking in family and social support (and a fair few at ...the moment have been homeless for years); as such Christmas proves to be a really problematic time as typically they have nowhere to go and must remain at the rehab dealing with the shit attached to their drug and alcohol use. It is our desire this year to give these kids a holiday season they can enjoy. Now here is where you can help out Each kid will have a stocking on the big day and were hoping they will be stuffed with lots of pressies. My bosses have come up with a list of some items (but anything at all, no matter how small would be awesome too): Movie tickets, books, cds, dvds, art supplies- canvases, pencils, textas, towels, t-shirts, tickets to events, itunes gift cards, vouchers, sporting equipment (ping pong balls and basketballs, etc), perfumes and cologne and virtually anything else you can think of. Another option is just to transfer a bit of cash even $5 can go a long way. If anyone is keen to give a little this Christmas you can send physical donations to 206a Alison Road, Randwick, NSW, 2031 (just address them to Pauline Faletogo). For monetary donations the best way (you get an instant tax deductible receipt) is https://noffs.org.au/donate/. On this page for the box Donation Details select PALM (this is the rehab) complete the fields required. Then email [email protected] with the dets of Name, amount and the date you made the donation and we will be able to track these down, rather than it going to entire the organisation. Otherwise just drop a line to your friend or family that works for the NOFFS foundation and they can pass it on. Every one of us must be alert and alive to the fact that no one knows when their life is to be touched by whatever force it is that operates in the universe. I believe it is there all the time and takes hold of a mans mind or a womans mind, their heart and spirit, and transforms them into something they never dreamt they were capable of being. Thats the story of history. Nobody can be pessimistic. Nobody can say it is the end. Nobody can say the world is doomed. Nobody can say this man or this woman is a write off. Ted Noffs

18.01.2022 Did you go to PALM in 2014 or 2015? Want to make $100? Staff from the University of NSW are doing a study on the Noffs PALM programs. We want to find out about how you are going after PALM by getting you to do a 30 minute survey on the phone. Upon completion you will receive a $100 gift card. This is different from the PART D that some of you have done with us already. So this mean you can actually make an extra $100... So if youve been out of PALM for a year or two and wan...t to take part then message us. Your feedback is important to us and will help us to learn more about how we can improve PALM.

07.01.2022 "Mundine says it was a rational and humane approach that offered him a chance to break out of his prison spiral". We have all been deeply affected by the footag...e that emerged on Four Corners last Monday night and continue to be deeply concerned about the over representation of Aboriginal young people and adults in custody. Its timely that The Law Society of NSW has published the August edition of their Journal, featuring our Weave Advocate and Just Reinvest NSW and Change the Record Ambassador Keenan Mundine, who shares his story of lived experience of his battle with the judicial system and incarceration. Keenan is a strong advocate for community led initiatives and programs that work with people, for people and that build stronger communities. "I want Weave to be a first stop for young people needing support... Lets take money out of the planned new detention centres and create community based programs that can address these issues. I want to share my story and show the people who are going through the same things that I went through- there is hope. You can make it out of the system" #WayUpWayForward #StrongConnectedComunity #DonDale Journal article written by : Kate Allman published in The Law Society Journal, August Edition.
