07.02.2022 It was a privilege to be invited to teach a yoga class to the NSW Wheelchair State of Origin team on the weekend - what a talented and tough group of blokes! Coach Edie and manager Cherie's idea to offer something slightly different as part of their training session was surprisingly well received by all - always good to venture out of our comfort zone .. it's where we grow :) Sadly Covid restrictions are messing with competition dates - but check out their website for more information : www.nswwrl.com.au

03.02.2022 Namaste Yogis - it's been a while since the last update - my apologies (I never was the best at posting!). Since Covid began and we had to move classes out of the studio - I began teaching from my home studio via Zoom. That was an interesting learning curve for many of us - but we survived and thrived! Then with the lifting somewhat of restrictions, and the (very disappointing) news that unfortunately we will not be able to reinstate at the studio above the BoathouseI any... time soon - I have been exploring alternative teaching spaces/studios ... And I have been lucky enough to find TWO new venues for classes pretty much on my own doorstep (can walk to work!). All classes will now be run from the Avalon Surf Club - a beautiful large room with sweeping views of the ocean as a backdrop, to accomodate slightly larger groups - and the Avalon Yoga Co-op, a smaller more intimate and purpose designed yoga studio in the heart of Avalon village. Please check out the website for times and venue - www.palmbeachyoga.com.au or call me on 0410 312 626. I look forward to seeing some of you back on the mat again soon - but until then, go gently with yourself, and everyone else! Namaste N See more

24.01.2022 Here at long last and looking forward to the next three weeks ....!

20.01.2022 Namaste - and a long overdue update since my last post at the beginning of Covid. Apologies yogis! (I am not the best poster at the best of times). The last few months have seen what were live classes move to Zoom classes from my home studio/garage and then to Zoom from my bedroom (long story) ... and most recently - with the easing of restrictions - I have been exploring studios/other teaching spaces locally as unfortunately - and very sadly - it seems we will not be able... to re-establish the studio above the Boathouse for quite some time. This is due in part to Covid number restrictions but also other considerations with the space that are totally out of my control. BUT all is not lost - the rainbow at the end of this all is that I am now teaching from my own backyard so to speak - I don't even have to drive to work! I am now running all my classes from the Avalon Surf Club and the Avalon Yoga Co-op. The Surf Club boasts a huge open room with a magnificent backdrop of the ocean (where sometimes whales and dolphins can be spotted) and plenty of room to spread out - and the Co-op in the heart of 'town' is a more intimate space, purpose built as a yoga studio, with a backdrop of jacarandas. And you are spoilt for choice for coffee spots after class!! Check out the website for the timetable/venue: www palmbeachyoga.com.au - and look forward to seeing you on the mat again soon! TIll then tho - go gently with yourself - and others. Om Shanti See more

13.01.2022 I just had to share this - those of you who were on the mat this week will understand why!

12.01.2022 An interesting read ... if you needed any convincing about the benefits of yoga

05.01.2022 Dear Yoginis and Yogis I have made the decision today to CANCEL ALL CLASSES above The Boathouse for the next few weeks - based on directives and advice from many sources, particularly around social distancing. As you know, ours is a very cosy studio and will not permit the recommended 1.5-3m distance between mats ... I feel it is my duty of care to you all to keep you safe - and our responsibility, as individuals, to play our part in the slowing of the spread of this virus..., and to give the more vulnerable among us a fighting chance. It's been a very difficult decision to make, but I am convinced that it is the best contribution I can make toward minimising risk and maximising health. I will be putting on my creative hat to come up with alternative solutions to keep you all connected and moving in the short term .. so stay tuned! In the meantime - can I remind you of the very valuable and readily available resource of your BREATH - and suggest 5-10 minutes daily practice of Nadi Shodana (alternate nostril breathing) to balance and harmonise the nervous system - which in turn will calm the mind and strengthen the immune system... it's a great starting point, can be done anywhere/anytime and will never run off the shelves!! Be well and happy, nurture yourself and stay grounded and practice compassion in these difficult days Love, Light and Namaste Amanda

05.01.2022 First module of Yoga Therapy training over after two incredible and intense weeks of study (interspersed with a few temple visits and a little retail therapy!). Counting myself very lucky for this opportunity to grow and learn from such amazing teachers offering soo much. Thank you Kausthub and Menaka Desikachar and GRV sir - looking forward to the next 3 years!!

05.01.2022 Well - it's been quite the month for change and transformation - for all of us!! And for me that highlights resistance (to embracing technology/camera work) and attachment (to the 'old ways') which has been interesting to watch ... upskilling my IT skills and testing my patience all part of my growth thus far. Sadly with the studio closed, our beautiful view lost and our community all sequestered in their own quarters, I have been feeling a little lost, confused and unsure ...as to how to progress. Same for all of us I know in one way or another - but just thought I'd share .. SOOO, in the last couple of weeks I have started teaching online and have also started a home practice group for those of you who would rather not engage with platforms such as zoom ... a bit of touch and go, some shaky starts and delays but all in all I'm pretty happy with what it's allowed in terms of keeping a community alive and offering some motivation to keep moving and staying sane in these uncertain days. So if you'd like to join either the live classes or the private group - just give me a call 0410 312 626 or message me and we can get you set up : Meanwhile, keep breathing ..s l o w l y .. keep smiling, stay safe, well and happy! Namaste and love, Amanda xx See more

05.01.2022 Our studio is cosy and intimate - and invites you to turn the gaze inward .... challenging sometimes with such beautiful distractions just outside the door ......

04.01.2022 Apologies to those who have already enquired about yoga this long weekend at the Boathouse - and for those of you who might be tempted to try yoga! - but the studio is closed, Monday classes cancelled too. I am lucky enough to be attending a workshop on Yoga for (dis)ability at Sargood on Collaroy, to add to my recent 'upskilled' Chair Yoga training ... watch this space! Timetable back to usual on Wednesday - look forward to seeing you then

04.01.2022 Lucky meee!!! Heading back to India till the end of July to begin my studies in Yoga Therapy at the Krishnamacharya Healing and Yoga Foundation in Chennai (I'll be going twice a year for the next three years) ... such an amazing opportunity to study with my teacher Dr Kausthub Desikachar. But - that does mean that there will be an ammended timetable whilst I'm gone - so please check online at www.palmbeachyoga.com.au for changes. Very happy to welcome Sally Lockley back to c...over me, alongside Claire Lane - both yoginis offering their own special energy to the classes, so don't miss out! See you all when I get back - till then, be well and happy :) Namaste Amanda x See more

02.01.2022 Just letting you all know the studio will be closed from December 24 and will re open for classes as usual on January 6 2020! I am taking some time out over the next couple of weeks to reconnect with the people I care about - sharing celebrations with my family and friends My wish in the lead up to Christmas and New Year - where stress often overshadows - is that we can all find PEACE in the company of loved ones, that we reach out to others, and that we practice compassion, tolerance and gratitude .. (and more than that - that these gifts extend beyond the holiday period - what a blessing that would be!) Merry Christmas all, and may the New Year bring with it abundance, joy - and rain..
