20.01.2022 Study a trade occupation to maximise your PR opportunities? If you’re thinking about studying as a way to get permanent residency in Australia or change your career, it’s worth considering which industries and/or occupations are likely to have good employment prospects in the future, and what kinds of skills will be in demand in the Australian labour market. A good indication of whether your chosen study path and career may lead to a pathway towards permanent residency is by ...reviewing the new occupations lists that have been categorised to be more responsive to Australia’s genuine skill needs. The Medium and Long-Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) lists occupations that are considered in greater demand and as such can qualify you for a permanent Australian Visa, Whilst the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) lists occupations more likely to qualify you for a short-term visa for between 2 4 years. With this is mind, if you are seeking permanent residency, you should pursue course(s) that train you for a position that feature on the (MLTSSL). This list includes a host of trade occupations in many industries such as child care, automotive, construction, and hospitality. For further information please email us at [email protected]

17.01.2022 I keep getting asked - When will travel to Australia be possible again? I don't have a crystal ball but my thoughts - Following the CoViD-19 outbreak, the Australian Government implemented international travel restrictions in March 2020 preventing all arrivals on visitor and temporary migration visas, such as short-term business travel, students, working holidaymakers, tourists, and other visitors.... Where does it go from here? - July to December 2020: only Australian citizens, holders of permanent resident visas, New Zealanders, and a small number of international students are assumed to be able to travel to Australia. - January to June 2021: the travel ban might be lifted (but a two-week quarantine period might be required of arrivals to Australia), leading to the resumption of arrivals by temporary and permanent migrants, but at lower levels overall than normal. International travel is assumed to remain at low levels until the end of the June quarter of 2021. What are your thoughts, leave a comment?

04.01.2022 Background to the Migration Program Australias Migration Program is set annually, and runs from 1 July to 30 June of each year, similarly to the Australian financial year. The size and composition of the program is set each year through the Australian Governments Budget process. Australias Migration Program ensures we attract highly skilled migrants who support Australian values, do... not displace Australian workers and support development in regional and low growth metropolitan areas. The program balances the needs of the Australian economy with pressures on our major cities, infrastructure and the environment, and ensures it will continue to support Australias security, economic and social cohesion objectives now and into the future. There are four streams in the Migration Program: The Skill stream is designed to improve the productive capacity of the economy and fill skill shortages in the labour market, including those in regional Australia. The Family stream is predominately made up of Partner category visas, enabling Australian citizens and permanent residents to reunite with family members from overseas and provide them with pathways to citizenship. The Special Eligibility stream covers visas for those in special circumstances that do not fit into the other streams. This can include permanent residents returning to the country after a period away. The Child program is demand driven and does not have a ceiling. Some visas granted during a program year may not count toward the Migration Program outcome. If a person has been previously granted a visa which counted toward the Migration Program, that person will not be counted again. Similarly, when a visa is granted and subsequently cancelled in the same program year, the grant is considered as not having occurred (for the purposes of Migration Program outcome reporting) and is excluded. Additionally, when a Partner visa applicant does not progress to the second stage (permanent) visa, a place is returned to the program. If a Business Innovation and Investment visa (granted in an earlier year) is cancelled under certain powers, a place is returned to the program in the year of cancellation. When these types of visa exclusions occur, this means that another person is then able to take that place within the Migration Program.
