25.01.2022 Please see below information regarding the service for Dion Sewell. Dion's family welcome all his friends and PaRBA team mates to attend. SDFC Crocs are supporting the passing of Dion Sewell by hosting a gathering at the Clubhouse from 5.30pm this Friday, 27 November 2020. Dion's Service will be held at Darwin Funeral Services - Resthaven Chapel, Amy Johnson Avenue at 3pm.... The gathering will commence at Crocs Clubhouse from 5:30pm. His family requests no flowers, although donations will be gratefully accepted for Dolly's Dream. We would be pleased to have Dion's school and football friends come down to Norbuilt Oval to share his memories and have a kick around the oval. https://dollysdream.org.au/ Due to the gathering, we have asked for some Friday night games to be rescheduled for the weekend. We thank the AFL Northern Territory to accommodate these changes at short notice. An update will be provided to football players, parents and carers on these changes once times and dates have been confirmed. Please remember there are various support services that are available within our community for us all to contact.. https://raisingchildren.net.au/.../trauma-first-response https://headspace.org.au/ https://kidshelpline.com.au/ https://www.beyondblue.org.au/ https://www.lifeline.org.au/

INDIGENOUS BASKETBALL AUSTRALIA NATIONAL INDIGENOUS YOUTH BASKETBALL PROGRAM AUSTRALIA NT METRO TEAMS ANNOUNCED (Darwin and Palmerston, NT) 10.11.20 The National Indigenous Youth Basketball Program Australia (NIYBPA) organised by Indigenous... Basketball Australia (IBA) is the first of its kind in Australian sporting history, providing a pathway for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people in the 13-14 age group and commences in 2021. Indigenous Basketball Australia (IBA) IBA will deliver programs at the grassroots level for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people so they have a better chance to advance to the elite level and importantly succeed in life. These programs aim to develop fundamental basketball knowledge, skills and competition, leading to an opportunity for selection to a national tournament and beyond. These programs are underpinned by Inspiration and Motivation Sessions for players, focusing on key topics including culture, education, employment, health, leadership, safety and wellbeing and role models and delivered in an environment that is safe and free of discrimination, criticism and judgement. The involvement of community, elders, service organisations, volunteers and role models will be a valuable part of the program. Indigenous Community Basketball League (ICBL) The ICBL is the first level of competition under the NIYBPA for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth aged 13 & 14, helping to support their journey from the community level, to the elite level and beyond. In 2021, IBA will coordinate the delivery of ICBL through Regional Co-ordinators in 8 targeted regions across Australia: Torres Strait (Thursday Island), North Queensland (Cairns), South Queensland (Logan), New South Wales (Dubbo), South Australia (Adelaide), Western Australia (Perth), Northern Territory Metro (Darwin) and Northern Territory Country (Alice Springs). The ICBL competition will be held in Term 1 of 2021, with matches played on Sunday afternoons throughout February and March. Each region will have 4 boys and 4 girls teams competing. Planning and organising for the ICBL commenced in early September 2020 in each of the regions by Regional Co-ordinators. National Indigenous Basketball Tournament (NIBT) Players competing in the ICBL will have an opportunity to be selected to represent their region at the NIBT. Regional representative teams will include one (1) boys team and (1) girls team. Selection of players will be decided through a national standard selection criteria and process. NIBT is planned for the Gold Coast, Queensland during the school holiday break, April 2021. See more
