25.01.2022 A total of 35 remote roadhouses, wayside inns and caravan parks across the Territory will receive almost $4 million to upgrade their facilities under the highl...y-popular Roadhouse to Recovery grants. Highlights from the grant recipients include: Emerald Springs Roadhouse N.T which will build a new family cabin accommodation, a children’s playground and install a swimming pool. The business received a grant of $120,000. Threeways Roadhouse which will construct three new family cabins as well as an outdoor garden bar. The business received a grant of $150,000. These grants are all about backing local and backing jobs and the flow-on benefits will be a big boost for our economy. We will see millions of dollars of work carried out across the Top End and Central Australia, which will keep Territory tradies on the tools. It will also see roadhouses and wayside inns refurbished, which will give travellers more reasons to stop, and extend their stay in the Territory. The grants will ensure money keeps flowing locally, which will help cement our position as Australia’s comeback capital.

23.01.2022 Some good parts right there

22.01.2022 Our borders continue to be closed to the rest of Australia until 17 July. The Territory’s borders will stay closed to all of Victoria, until further notice. Th...ey are shut indefinitely. I am declaring all of Victoria a hotspot for the purposes of travel to the Northern Territory. There are three key reasons: First the escalating cases in Melbourne. Second the extending community transmission. And third the unacceptable risk of spread to regional areas. Yesterday’s 191 cases in Victoria was the highest daily number since this crisis began. More than 150 of those cases are still under investigation which means the source of the infection cannot yet be explained. They don’t know where it’s coming from. Although the outbreaks are in certain suburbs in Melbourne, they are spread across the metropolitan area, making them more difficult to contain. And there are only two local government areas in Melbourne that don’t currently have an active case. The lockdown has happened quite slowly, and there are many areas of concern with a high number of cases, that were not subject to the earlier postcode lockdowns. I know Victorian communities outside Melbourne will be wondering why we are targeting them as well, when they are not the problem right now. When you look at the data, you can see the areas of highest risk are on the edges of metropolitan Melbourne areas like Hume and Wyndham. That makes the risk of spread outside Melbourne higher. One adjoining area the Mitchell Shire already has an outbreak, and has to go into lockdown. We also have reports of large numbers of visitors from Melbourne in regional Victorian communities for the school holidays. For these reasons, while the spread in confined mainly to the Melbourne area, we cannot be confident at this time that it will stay in that area. Melbourne is out of control. That makes it harder for the rest of Victoria to stay in control. And that is not a risk that we in the Territory are prepared to take. So to the rest of Victoria I’m sorry, you haven’t done anything wrong, but it’s my job to put the Territory first. That means the Territory stays shut to Victoria, until they get back in control. #territorytogether

20.01.2022 Confused about what's open tomorrow? Here's everything you need to know before getting that chicken parmi

20.01.2022 The Territory stayed safe by closing our borders to all states. In the next step, we will stay safe by keeping our borders closed to suburbs and hot spots that ...are not safe. This is about being prepared using the four weeks we gave ourselves to be prepared. From the 17th of July: if your suburb or local government area has been declared a coronavirus hot spot, then you will not be permitted free access to the Territory. You will be required to self-quarantine for 14 days. And it will be enforced. In addition to the current arrival information, you will be required to declare if you have been in, or travelled through, a hot spot in the last 28 days. Making a false statement in a statutory declaration is against the law. If we find you have lied on the border form been to a hot spot but told us that you hadn’t it could mean a prison sentence of up to three years. If you are from interstate and you live in a hot spot area, your own government is telling you the area is not safe, and you should be in lock down. If you are meant to be in lock down, then you shouldn’t be leaving your home. You shouldn’t be coming here. If you do leave your home and come here, we will lock you down, and if you break our rules, we can lock you up. So don’t come here. For everyone else the 99 per cent of Australia that’s safe we will be open, and we can’t wait to see you.
