25.01.2022 This is exactly why Palms Australia do not run or fund programs abroad, preferring to respond to requests by local organisations for personnel to build on the strengths of their programs. The control stays in their hands. #development #overseasaid #volunteering #crosscultural

23.01.2022 The purpose behind WORLD TOURISM DAY is to foster awareness of the importance of tourism. Helen Colla does just that as she begins her short article with "One does not realise the importance of tourism on a country’s economy until there are no tourists."

22.01.2022 We know many schools, Parishes and organisations were unable to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sunday in July this year, so why not take the op...portunity that NAIDOC provides to celebrate the contributions of Australia's First peoples to the Catholic Church in Australia? We have produced a resource booklet to assist in the planning of your celebrations this Sunday - https://www.natsicc.org.au/2020-atsi-sunday.html NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. The week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. The theme for 2020 is Always Was, Always Will Be. and it recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. We are spiritually and culturally connected to this country. This country was criss-crossed by generations of brilliant Nations. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were Australia’s first explorers, first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first botanists, first scientists, first diplomats, first astronomers and first artists.

13.01.2022 Liz O’Sullivan’s birthday is celebrated by colleagues, staff and students, many of whom never celebrate their own. Some may not know their own. So why celebrate the fa-lang’s (foreigner’s) birthday? Liz is mentoring teachers in remote Thailand to build the capacity of their schools so that not only the students she teaches will have improved opportunities, but generations of children in the future will also. Liz exudes a sense that she would not want to be anywhere else, or with anyone else. This is what they celebrate.
