19.01.2022 History repeating... 100 years ago, Australia was facing a deadly virus which emerged at the end of the First World War. The Spanish flu appeared in Australi...a in early 1919 until hope arrived in the form of a vaccine. On February 3rd 1919, B Cannon sent a postcard to Perce Westaway. Referring to the war... Thank God it is all over. The flu or B.Plague as some doctors are saying, is raging terrible especially in Victoria. What an awful thing it is Perce. Image 1: Women wearing masks in Brisbane, 1919. 16.01.2022 I'm chasing some info if possible. I've been researching my family tree and Gottfried August Baumann and Rosina Friedericka Caroline Dilger are my direct 2nd Gr...eat Grandparents. I know they were married at a waterhole in the Caboolture district on the 20th July 1882. Gottfrieds parents were August Baumann & Marie Weber. Rosina Dilger parents were John Dilger & Friedericka Kustner. I would love to know of any stories, newspaper articles, photos that you may have. I would love to know of their history and how they lived and everything in between :) Picture is of Gottfried & Rosina Baumann. Cheers. Mel xo

This movie talks of Palmwoods and the Shay that remains in the bank at Palmwoods Station. In the movie you will see the ES&A Bank & Bank Managers House that we would like to secure as a multi-purpose Community Centre and Museum. 12.01.2022 A planning scheme amendment has been adopted by council to give the community greater certainty that the region’s significant cultural heritage values will be protected. Informed by extensive community consultation and research by expert historians, the amendment identifies special places to allow the region’s heritage to be preserved and appreciated by current and future generations. The amendment is the final piece in a lengthy process that will provide a detailed history o...f each of these special places, explaining their origins and why they are significant. The historic cultural heritage planning scheme amendment was subject to public consultation from August 19 to September 16, 2019 and its adoption into the Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme 2014 will commence on August 24, 2020.
