14.01.2022 Did you know? Australia is the last developed country worldwide to not have domestic standards set for use of the word 'organic'. This means it can be used by brands and companies who don't actually use organic practices or ingredients (sometimes these products are made of less than 2% organic ingredients!). One way to ensure your Australian products & produce are certified organic, is to look for a certification marker (like the one pictured). ... What does this marker mean? - no synthetic chemicals, pesticides or herbicides used - made without artificial colours or preservatives - livestock are free to roam - no routine use of antibiotics - GM ingredients prohibited Information worth considering when shopping 'organic' here is Australia. FYI. Still plenty of produce available in store & tomorrow is @honorbread day. Get it quick, it's been running out the door!
14.01.2022 We've discovered a fantastic resource for Australian specific #certifiedorganic food information! @australianorganic produce their very own e-mag, and it's free to download from their website, or you can find the link on their Instagram page. The Spring edition has just been released & there's some really useful info, plus stories of passionate organic producers & growers. Worth a look. And a BIG thank you to all our wonderful, loyal & supportive customers who have embraced our covid-safe measures and helped us, help you, create a safe and comfortable shopping space for all. We know it has taken a little adjusting, and we are all still getting our heads around the 'new normal', but with kindness & patience we can get through these strange times together

09.01.2022 As Naidoc week comes to a close, we would like to pay our respects & acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we live and enjoy, the Yuin people. Not just for this one week, but always. We are truly blessed to live in an area rich in indigenous culture. A culture we as non-indigenous Australians must honour, respect & learn from, now and into the future. #alwayswasalwayswillbe #naidocweek

08.01.2022 Heard of The Dirty Dozen? Or the Clean Fifteen? If you haven't, here's the low down. The Environmental Working Group (EWG), originating in 1993, is an organisation that fight for the rights of consumers in regards to all things health, in particular the testing of produce for traces of harmful pesticides. They developed the Shoppers Guide to Pesticides in Produce in 2004, and have continued to update each year since. Although an American based organisation, this guide can be ...used here in Australia as our farming practices are somewhat similar. The Dirty Dozen is your worst offenders list, the produce that is found to have the highest traces of harmful pesticides. And The Clean Fifteen, these guys are your best non-organic options, with little to no pesticides traces found. Buying organic is not an option for us all, but this guide may be helpful in making some wiser choices when selecting your fruits and vegetables . The EWG website is an excellent source of information when it comes to pesticide education, health affects of pesticides, plus you can read about their testing methods to get the full picture. Swipe to see the 2020 lists & enjoy your Sunday #australianorganicawarenessmonth

02.01.2022 For those who missed the memo, September is Australian Organic Awareness Month and we've been sharing a bit of useful info around the topic of all things organic, more specifically around food. Scroll back to past posts & catch up. Current legislation in Australia means labels do not have to state if food products are made with genetically modified materials (GMOs). So how do you ensure your food is GMO free? By looking for organic certification is how . And remember, the te...rm organic can be used loosely too (clever marketing can mislead us consumers!). Look for certification markers such as the ones pictured. Head to the austorganic.com or nasaaorganic.org.au for more information And don't forget, Tuesday is fresh produce day. Certified organic fruits & veg + local spray free produce available from 9.30. #australianorganicawarenessmonth #supportorganic

02.01.2022 Well, we're certainly not out of the woods yet folks. Covid-19 has gone and thrown a spanner in the works yet again .
