24.01.2022 CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN RENDANG Somewhere hidden below the kaffir lime leaves, curry leaves, lemongrass is some Beef Rendang. Sis: We need 6 kaffir lime leaves Me: I will get 20 ... Sis: We need 3 sprigs of curry leaves. Me: I will get 10 Sis: We need 1 lemongrass. Unfortunately I am running short on lemongrass, so I only used 1 lemongrass. Otherwise it will be 3 lemongrass. *If I had lots of Pandan leaves I would also have added it in. It will enhance the fragrance when first served but most likely be overpowered by all the other herbs and spices when u eat it. This is a herb overkill recipe. Hence the SUPER SUPER fragrant result. This is a short cut recipe that is tweaked. (Only about a 20min prep time.) I will post the short cut recipe later. NASI LEMAK Sis: What did u put in the rice? Me: EVERYTHING!!! Sis: Me: EVERYTHING!! 17.01.2022 PANDAN EASY CARE GUIDE Updated Mar 2020 3 SIMPLE RULES 1)KEEP SOIL MOIST (but not damp)... 2)LOTS OF FILTERED SUNLIGHT. (No direct sunlight) 3)KEEP AWAY FROM COLD WEATHER until plants grow bigger and stronger. WARM WEATHER (SPRING AND AUTUMN): You only need to water approx 2 or 3 times a week. (Or when soil is dry.) HOT WEATHER (SUMMER) Water approx 3 to 4 times a week. (Or when soil is dry.) During hotter days, then water everyday. DURING COLD WEATHER (WINTER): OPTION 1 : INSIDE Leave inside house. And take out it into sun approx once a month. Water once or twice a week. (Or when soil is dry) OPTION 2 : OUTSIDE Leave under a well covered patio. When temperature is below 10 degrees at night, then bring the Pandan inside the house. Put it near glass door (laundry or bathroom) or near a window with lots of indirect sunlight. *The bigger and stronger the plant, the more likely they are able to tolerate being outside during winter. OPTION 3 : Hot house Someone said they bought a small plastic type cover from Bunnings. l think it works like a little hot house, but we never tried this before. BIG PLANTS vs SMALL PLANTS *$55 and bigger plants are more likely to survive the winter. FERTILISER We used to fertilise once a month with Seasoil and once every 3 months with NPK. Now we are going organic and we fertilise with organic worm tea. (Once or twice a month) ORGANIC WORM TEA FOR SALE $2 for 1 liter. $4 for 2 liters. 2 liters makes 20 litres. *If u can bring some 2 liter milk bottles or juice bottles to swap, it will be great Good luck with your Pandan plant. 15.01.2022 TIME FOR YOUR PANDAN TO GROW. Weather is starting to warm up. Great time for your Pandan to start growing. Water your plants more often( But dont over water. Just keep soil moist) and fertilize with NPK or Worm Juice. * Just watch out for a sudden cold spell. Probably safer to still bring your smaller Pandan plants indoor.

14.01.2022 PANDAN EASY CARE GUIDE SUN LIGHT (NEW INFO) Quite a few people recently ask if Pandan needs a lot of sun or full sun. I think the best explaination is that it needs lots of sun, but filtered sun ( ie. semi shaded). Morning or evening sun is best for your Pandan plant. AVOID direct sunlight or the leaves may become burnt. ... SPRING AND AUTUMN: You can leave the plant outside. You only need to water every 2 or 3 days, depending rain and on how dry the soil is. SUMMER During hotter days, then water everyday. Lots of indirect sun and avoid direct scorching sun. WINTER OR COLD WEATHER: OPTION 1 : Easy Leave inside house and Take out it into sun at least once or twice a week. Water every 2 or 3 days, depending how dry the soil is. OPTION 2 Leave outside of house. But when temperature is below 10 degrees at night, then take the Pandan inside the house. Put it near glass door or window with sunlight. Give it as much sun as possible, then it will grow better. *If you leave it outside during a very cold night, it will die. 14.01.2022 PANDAN AND LEMONGRASS DRINK One of our favourite drinks. Super fragrant and tastes amazing. EASY RECIPE Boil pandan and lemongrass in a pot of water until leaves are wilted and your kitchen smells of pandan. Then add sugar to taste.... Water: 4L Pandan leaves: 4 to 12 leaves Lemongrass: 4 to 8 stalks Sugar: to taste I tend to like strong fragrance and aroma. So i will add as much pandan leaves and lemongrass as i have or that will fit in the pot Normally, about 20mins to 30mins of simmering will be enough. But I tend to make a big batch and like the smell of Pandan and lemongrass in my whole house, so I may simmer it for 1 hour+. Apparently Pandan and lemongrass has lots of health benefits. Not sure how true the claims are, but you can google all the info. 09.01.2022 SUN DAMAGE DURING WINTER: Do not put your Pandan under direct sun, even during winter. Recently, I had a few people contact me saying their leaves are yellowing and browning. After looking at the photos, it is most likely sun damage to their plants. Yes, Pandan require lots of sun (FILTERED SUN, not direct sun). (Australian sun can be harsh, even during winter.) WINTER CARE GUIDE: Winter is here, be sure to look after your Pandan plants during winter. Bring it into the house... when the weather is cold or very windy. (Especially the smaller plants.) 07.01.2022 Spring is here Weather is starting to warm up. Depending on your Pandan and soil, u may have to water your Pandan every 2 days or every day. Keep soil moist. However, some nights are still cold. So bring your plants in the house or to a warm part of your patio when temperature is below 10 degrees.

03.01.2022 HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL NASI LEMAK OVERKILL + THE 4 SAMBAL OF THE APOCALYPSE ... NASI LEMAK OVERKILL (RICE) Coconut milk x 1.5 cans Pandan leaves x 10 leaves A stalk of lemongrass Mum says its the most fragrant rice she has ever had. Next time I might have to double the portion of pandan leaves again (20 pandan leaves) 4 TYPES OF SAMBAL Different portions of ingredients in each. The full proof agak agak (estimation estimation) method. A couple of the sambal was good, a couple didnt really work out. I think I didnt fry it long enough and i ran out of certain ingredients, eg. dried shrimps, shallots etc. Mum and Dad says the sambal is very fragrant but its way too spicy . It was even a bit too spicy for me too. *Extra lemon grass and extra Pandan leaves helps makes the sambal much more fragrant. SAMBAL PANDAN CHICKEN Mum and dad likes it. I think it could be much better, the previous one was much better. I think I didnt marinate this one long enough.

02.01.2022 Super Easy Recipe (SUPER DELICIOUS) TAU FU FA + SUPER FRAGRANT PANDAN SYRUP My first time making Tau Fu Fa. It is so silky smooth, that it is more like drinking it than actually eating it (The bottom is not as smooth as the top, but it is still super soft. Next time I need to stir a bit longer)... The highlight is the ridiculously fragrant Pandan sugar syrup. And I licked my bowl after I finished TAU FU FA Water 130ml Gelatine powder :24g Unsweetened Soy Milk : 1.5L 1.sprinkle gelatine powder over hot water. Allow to SOAK for 20mins. Then put on stove at lowest heat for 10mins, make sure gelatine powder is dissolved. 2.STRAIN into Soy milk 3.CHILLED 6hours or overnight DONE!! Its so easy!! PANDAN SUGAR SYRUP Hot water 90ml Brown sugar 120g White sugar 30g Pandan 1 leaf (or more ) Low heat until fully dissolve and Pandan is infused. 10mins and its done. TIP: I used extra Pandan leaves (3times what the recipe calls for.) I stir at low heat and occasionally remove from the flame, up to 20mins to get Pandan more infused into the syrup. TIP: I think this recipe you cannot eat it hot. I tried to microwave it and it became Soy Milk. The other recipe calls for gypsum powder. I think that one you may be able to have it hot.
