22.01.2022 Hello everyone, Due to current government regulations, unfortunately Pantry Club has had to close two weeks earlier than our normal school holiday closure. As government policies are changing daily, we are working on a strategy to accommodate our members beginning Term 2, however if you find yourself in desperate need of assistance, you may call Hope Church on 4344 2509, during the hours of 9am to 4pm and we will endeavor to return your call A.S.A.P.... Please note that during this time no fruit or vegetables will be available. A good definition of those in desperate need are those who have lost employment, are living pay cheque to pay cheque and are waiting for government assistance to come through. Please note we are operating on skeleton staff and we thank you for your patience, as this is uncharted territory for us all. We ask that you do not come down to the church without calling first as we abide with the social distancing, which will ensure the safety of ourselves and others. Please keep checking our Facebook page and website for updated information as it comes to light. You are all in our prayers in these challenging times. Pastors Dom, Josie and the Pantry Club team.

Due to Social distancing only 10 people will be able to be in the courtyard at a time. Only two people will be able to enter the building and access the Pantry. This will happen at hourly intervals to ensure that everyone is able to get what they need. Starting at 10am. Please note that whilst we are doing everything we can to ensure smooth running there may be limited seating and waiting times may be extended, we ask for your patience. 07.01.2022 As we can't have our usual devotions at Pantry Club tomorrow, here's what I was going to share: Hope during coronavirus- With all that's happened over Australia recently the drought, bushfires and now the coronavirus, people's reaction to these things and the media coverage bringing the worst in every situation, we can wonder if there is hope left for a better future. When our hope is in the government, emergency services, medical authorities or our own resourcefu...lness we are living in emotional highs and lows and reacting to everything around us. My sister and I booked a trip to Japan together in May this year. She rang me recently in tears, anxious and fearful of catching the virus and even dying. We decided we would not go but wait for the tour company and hopefully receive a reimbursement for our trip, which we have now received. She got caught up in the worst possible scenario and lost hope. Hope in the bible is not wishful thinking but a confident expectation of good. Without hope people perish, hope is essential for life. I work as a pastoral carer in a hospital and we help people to find hope in their situation, because then they look forward to something better than today. The bible encourages us to put our hope in God, because God will never leave us or forget us. In this world he is our constant companion, and into the next world where there is no sickness or death, pain or suffering. You may ask how I can be so certain of this hope. I know this because Jesus promises it and it is my own experience. In many things that my family and I have been through these last 10 yrs the constant in my life has been the presence of Jesus Christ and the confidence I will come through with His confidence in me. So be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of the drought, fires or coronavirus, for the Lord will go with you. He will not leave us. When I was thinking about hope and how to tell you about my experience, I remembered a little song we sang in Sunday school that is still true for me today: 'He lives, he lives, Christ Jesus lives today. He walks with me and talks with me along life's narrow way. He lives, he lives, salvation to impart. You ask me how I know he lives, he lives within my heart.' May the God of all hope fill you with joy and peace as you trust in him so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

05.01.2022 The Importance of The Cross (4) Sat, 11 Apr 2020 ‘Behold, they have rejected the Word of the Lord; so what wisdom do they have?’ Jeremiah 8:9 NKJV You will never understand the message of the cross, or receive the benefits of salvation that come from the cross, until you first kneel at the cross and receive Jesus Christ as your personal saviour.... The story is told of a great preacher who was touring Italy. A friend told him to go to a certain village and see a painting of the crucifixion of Christ. ‘What is it like?’ he asked. His friend said, ‘Never mind what it is like. I want you to see it. Please promise me you will.’ He replied, ‘I will.’ He went to the village and visited the chapel where the painting was. The old caretaker said, ‘You’ve come to see the painting, haven’t you?’ He said, ‘Why, yes I have.’ The caretaker responded, ‘Follow me.’ The great preacher was not prepared for what he was about to see. Instead of a beautiful masterpiece, the painting seemed all out of proportion and didn’t make sense. ‘I don’t understand this painting,’ he said. The caretaker replied, ‘Come closer.’ He did. The caretaker said, ‘Get lower.’ He did. Finally, as he was kneeling at the foot of the cross, he looked up and saw the power and beauty of the painting and was reduced to tears. It’s only when you lay aside your pride, your preconceived notions, and your intellectual approach, and humble yourself, that the message of the cross transforms you. ‘For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.’ (1 Corinthians 1:18 NKJV)

03.01.2022 The Importance of The Cross (1) Wed, 8 Apr 2020 It’s interesting that in the Bible Jesus doesn’t ask us to remember His birth or His resurrection, although we know we should, but He tells us to remember His death. When He instituted the Lord’s Supper, He said, ‘This do in remembrance of Me.’ (Luke 22:19 KJV) Paul said, ‘God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.’... The cross is an instrument of death. So why glory in it? Because of what took place there. When Jesus said, ‘It is finished,’ all your sins from the cradle to the grave were paid for. So the cross is God’s first and last word when it comes to salvation. It’s His first word because Jesus was ‘the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.’ (Revelation 13:8 KJV) And the cross is God’s last word about salvation, for in Heaven they will sing, ‘You were slain, and by Your blood You ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.’ (Revelation 5:9 ESV) There is no ‘plan B’ for salvation. The only road that goes to Heaven goes through Calvary. You can’t bypass the cross or go around it if you want to be saved. The Bible says, ‘Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.’ (Hebrews 9:22 ESV) As you look at the cross today, you’ll see the curse of sin, the cost of sin, and the cure for sin. And as you look at the cross, remind yourself: ‘He did it for me.’ (From the Word for Today.)
