22.01.2022 My smokebush looks like a big stick right now! But I don’t mind...because I have these leaves to look forward too! #wrinklesarebeautiful #cotinus #leaflove #botanicalprint on #japanesepaper #ecoprint #handmadepaper #kozo #staysafe #staywell
21.01.2022 Sometimes, I layer my paper bundles with scrap pieces of silk and extra papers. There’s a nice extra element of surprise, that comes with working in layers! Finding beauty from the depths of within. #botanicalcontactprint #layers #magic #botanicalprint #naturalcolour #naturaldyeing #silk #scraps #naturaldyes #forestlife #dandenongranges #quiettimes #staywell
21.01.2022 I was posting to my Under The Oaks group yesterday, about the value in creating serene spaces for oneself, in these turbulent times! I have little dedicated sacred spaces dotted throughout my home, garden and studio. On bookshelves, tables and even in a cupboard! If you lack space...a shoe box or empty drawer would work! I gather things of meaning to me. A ritual in itself. Here, some eucalyptus leaves from walks in the forest (a given), a Tibetan singing bowl, a seed pod, R...ose quartz, floating hellebores from my garden, a candle, an old hat stand. Things that take my attention away, if only for a few seconds, to make me stop, breathe and focus. Like a mini meditation...for those who are struggling, like me, with calming the mind right now, in these unsettling times. #creatingspaces #sacredspace #wellbeing #nurtureyourself #hopeithelps #takingcare #collectingcalm #minimeditation #remembertobreathe See more

14.01.2022 I’m moving on with the times...baby steps into a new direction for Paper Cloth Studio. It’s something that has to happen, if I were to keep going with my little business, into the future. I’ve been busy here, behind the scenes, working on a new range of lovely things. But also taking some serious steps towards online tutorials. Well, tutorial I’m hoping to create my A Paper Journey Workshop/ Botanical Contact Print as my first. I’ve loved running this face to face workshop,... definitely one of my favourites! Here are a few examples of this beautiful technique on paper. I’m planning to add some surprises in there too! I have no idea when this will be ready to present! But you’ll be the 1st to know. Love Jo PS thank you for the overwhelming response to yesterday’s post! Truly amazing #movingforward #newdirections #botanicalprint #apaperjourney See more
09.01.2022 This was a beautiful reveal, I posted awhile back, of Cotinus leaves botanically printed on Japanese Paper. Some of these papers are incredibly resilient. To withstand being bundled up with leaves and simmered in a dyepot for a few hours. Resilience...good word for today #botanicalcontactprinting #botanical #japanesepaper #resilience #naturalcolour #naturallydyed #printmaking #stayingpositive #bewell

04.01.2022 Looking back through old photos of work, finding a few long gone loves. This was a beauty! I remember this particular morning, I wandered into the studio to this draped silk/wool shawl, literally glowing in the morning light! Botanically printed with eucalyptus...just natural cloth and leaves #longgone #botanicalprint #wool #silk #light #eucalyptus #shawl #morninglight #dyepot #naturalwonder #handdyed #simplicity #draped
03.01.2022 Unbundling some preciousness Botanical contact print on paper. What am I doing with all these printed papers? I’m seaming them together...sort of like patchwork, but no stitching involved. #botanicalcontactprint #botanicalprint #paperforest #wrappedinaforest #protection #paperquilt #eucalyptus #forestfloor #isolation but not #isolated #dandenongranges #treefriends
03.01.2022 Still here, still going Have been riding the Covid wave like everyone else. The highs and lows and everything in between. Absolutely no idea at this stage, when and if I’ll be able to start in-house studio workshops again. ... But I’m working behind the scenes to get some online creative workshops happening. I’m using this great pause in time as we knew it, to think of new ways forward, as many other small businesses are doing. A re-invent of how things were, to where things are going. A new line of bespoke homewares are on the horizon, that I’m excited about, a venture I’ve been working on since earlier this year. Products are printed by hand and by me. And will be available to buy locally and direct from the studio, once we are safe to open. And finally hoping to still participate in Open Studios 2021. Hope you are all travelling well. Stay well, stay safe Jo
02.01.2022 Protea leaf unbundling and grubby fingers that come with the job! Lemon juice is a brilliant hand cleaner. I cut a lemon in half and rub it over my hands and fingers quite vigorously, to get lovely clean hands! Good to then use hand cream! #botanicalcontactprint #protea #lovelyleaves #paper #printmaking #naturaldye #unbundling #studio #isolation #restrictions #artsaves
