22.01.2022 Wonderful, and timely, news for Naidoc week! ""As of yesterday, Australia Post updated their addressing guidelines on their website, so it now has the information as to how you can properly use the traditional place name in your address. Australia Post encourages use of traditional place names following campaign by Gomeroi woman, Rachael McPhail. ... "When addressing a parcel or letter, place the traditional place name after the recipient's name, but before the street address, suburb or town. #NAIDOC2020 Always was, always will be.

18.01.2022 ---AWE--- You might be familiar with the "downward spiral" of emotions. You're annoyed about one thing and suddenly every bad thing seems to be happening to you. Coincidence? Or an emotion changing your brain, which changes what you notice? BUT- do you know about the upward spiral of positive emotions?... "everyday positive emotions, as fleeting as they may be, can initiate a cascade of psychological processes that carry enduring impact on people’s subsequent emotional well-being. That is, beyond making people feel good in the present moment, positive emotions also appear to increase the oddsthrough dynamic broaden-and-build processesthat people will feel good in the future." (Fredrickson and Joiner, 2018) And one of the positive emotions that can kick off this cascade is AWE. Today I took my kids to the forest, and the breathy exclamations of "Woahhh" as they looked up at the canopy told me they were experiencing awe. Awe makes you feel small, as you marvel at the greatness of something. And nature is just ripe with opportunities for it! Studies have shown that awe can sharpen your critical thinking skills, make you more compassionate, make you more open to new experiences, increase your happiness and life satisfaction, even lower the stress and inflammation markers in your body! THIS is what I'm talking about when I say nature is good for you. I can't wait to have a weekly play date in nature with our Wild Ones, and watch our families experience the magic of nature and AWE. Come join us on the event page if you haven't already- Wild Ones- Mindfulness and Nature Play -Mel

12.01.2022 Language warning! But in my mind totally worth it. I adore the reckless joy of this post! "Remember kids, we are just haunted meat sacks that decay ever more quickly by the year - wrap em up however you want."

09.01.2022 Taking time to remember today the lives lost, and the loved ones forever changed, so that we can live freely. Truly grateful for their sacrifice.
