BERNARDS COLLEGE CHAPEL FORECOURT} Congratulations to the team from @papworthdavies for receiving a Landscape Architecture Award in the Health and Education category at the 2020 AILA Vic Awards. A mature Jacaranda mimosifolia is the centrepiece of the St. Bernards Chapel Forecourt. Low walls double as seats to view the subtle textures of the ground plane with its bluestone and permeable paving. The forecourt is surrounded by native planting of contrasting shapes and textures. The design is understated and enduring with simple spaces for quiet reflection. The materials palette is complementary to the architecture. Thanks to @cityofmelbourne for sponsoring this award.
