20.01.2022 Rammed earth walls introduce a raw and dynamic alternative to standard wall treatments. Built by compacting layers of earth, limestone or recycled concrete, they offer good thermal mass from locally sourced materials. Rammed earth walls provide many environmental benefits and can act as a natural warming/cooling element. Users need to be mindful that although rammed earth walls have excellent thermal mass, they are poor insulators. Their specification and location within a building need to be carefully considered for maximum benefit.
