A common pitfall of strategic management is that analysis is carried out and strategies are developed but after that everything seems to stagnate. How often have you seen a strategic document or mission statement plastered on a staff notice board or on the office wall, but few take any heed of it and even fewer can explain the document and how it pertains to their own work unit. Implementing strategy and leading the strategic change process are crucial steps that too often are given a superficial treatment. For organisations to truly reap the rewards of good strategy, all steps of the strategic process need to be addressed appropriately at all levels of the organisation.
