24.01.2022 Good afternoon fellow plant lovers. 70mm of rain in the wet tropics of Far North Queensland over the weekend and the heliconias are shining. While most varieties are native to the American tropics from central Mexico to South America and the Caribbean, with a little regular maintenance(cutting out old stems),the tall tight clumping varieties are a worthy addition to any tropical garden. In organic rich, well draining soil, with regular fertilizing, good sun and regular wa...tering the reward of beautiful flowers is worth the small effort. Until the end of September we have available,to order, clean ex ground stock for $6per rhysome. Pick up only please. Here are a few of the stars from our gardens at the moment See more

17.01.2022 Happy Sunday plant lovers. A very useful 15mm of rain in the wet tropics of Far North Queensland yesterday and the plants are loving it,so along with a "dolls eye"exiting the ceiling on Friday evening here's a few other beauties that caught my eye during the week.

17.01.2022 G'day fellow plant lovers. After our week of winter,a couple of 9deg.minimums and clear sunny skies the rain has returned to the wet tropics of FNQ. Liquid gold for the plants and gardens. We've beaten the muddy walkways,a truckload of sand, wheelbarrowed around the place has sorted that slippery problem out. And so our plant sale continues from 10am daily, come out and have a look around, bargain prices and helpful advice

11.01.2022 Happy Sunday fellow plant lovers. Winter has arrived in the wet tropics of Far North Queensland, well we've had a couple of chilly starts with thick fog clearing to fine sunny days. Predictably, as the sugar cane harvest starts so does another spell of rainy days,65mm here at the Pocket since Thursday night. Lovely for the gardens,so nice to see winter tropical colours shine and it distracts from looking at our webbed feet. With COVID19 restrictions easing we are planning to reopen for plant sales towards the end of June, stay posted for details soon. Until then, happy gardening, stay well everyone

03.01.2022 Hi all Far North Queensland cockatoos, limited numbers of mandarine seeds left, fly in,you win,we can not chase you out anymore.
