24.01.2022 PLAYER SPONSOR ANNOUNCEMENT We would like to thank Heights Electrical & Air Conditioning for sponsoring young, passionate and above all fully committed team member, curator and club socialite Goodie for the coming season. Josiah, or Goodie as some may know him, has been a Para Hills Cricketer for some time now, often found parading the grounds with a hose over his shoulder and Doug alongside, Goodie has made quite the impression as a Curator working side by side with Hear...t Throb Harvey. An allrounder with undoubted ability, we expect big things from this young man, who has always had a tendency to produce big at times and will be focused on more big dawg performances more consistently this season, especially after an outstanding preseason. Now for a few facts about Goodie. A) Has been known to offer to help at homeless shelters before making his way to games on a weekend, hence at times his scruffy look. B) Found Doug in the back of an alley way fighting for scraps with other dogs, rescued him from the streets and has the ability to talk to him via erratic barking noises you may of heard him make. C) Is a massive supporter of our junior cricket, mostly because it takes him back to his glory days as a cricketer. D) Drinks yuppy beer because he thinks it makes him look cool (it doesn't). E) Is a trained black belt in 3 different styles of mixed martial arts. F) Once took 5 for 13 off 11 overs after removing the bell from the ball vs A blind cricket side We once again thank Heights Electrical for supporting Josiah this season, Goodie is definitely a worthy recipient of such support with the time and effort he puts in around the club Now we look forward to seeing what he can do on the field.
24.01.2022 A lovely tribute from the McGrath Foundation
23.01.2022 Congratulations to Zac Power who has made the ATCA U16 North East Zone representative side. Zac, a Keeper/Batsmen has had a tremendous season in the 16s thus far accumulating 246 runs at an average of 61 with a highest score of 88, he has also had scores of 83 and 49 across the 4 games he has played so far. Zac also recently made his senior debut in our B3 side managing to bat for 31 overs and making 14 runs, a fantastic effort in his first game against seniors.... We wish Zac all the best representing the Para Hills Cricket Club in the Rep squad.
23.01.2022 PLAYER SPONSOR ANNOUNCEMENT We would like to thank Shane Brown for being Kyle Parks player sponsor this season, Browny has been a constant supporter of Parko's for some time and doesn't mind throwing a few pineapples around to back him in, cheers Shane. Kyle is now entering his 5th season as a Para Hills cricketer, he was a part of our B1 premiership side a few seasons back and has been a part of our A grade side cementing himself as a part time batsmen, no time bowler an...d occasional fieldsman. Well known around the traps as a hard wicket hero, Parko cut his teeth trying to be a fast bowler for Salisbury North, he was also previously an A grade premiership captain at Kilburn. Now for some fun facts about Parko: A) Is often considered one of our most troubled members when it comes to using thought or logic. B) He once jumped out of the way of a delivery from Mark Harrity because it was too fast for him. C) Broke a premiership shield over his head in celebration, the shield was in excess of 50 years old and required replacing. D) Possesses the ability to bowl self titled 'Nightmares' known to trouble very little, if anyone, ever. E) Hit a 45 ball hundred and brought it up with a 6, but is still remorseful for running Marto out that game and costing him a huge score. F) And last but not least, considers Marto the greatest skipper he ever played under, cheers Parko. We love the attitude and effort Kyle brings to his cricket and are very thankful again that Shane Brown has got on board and backed him in with us to be a part of any future success. Go well this season, Parko

22.01.2022 **Sponsored Player Profile** Jason Mordaunt is our next featured sponsored player! Jason came to the club at the start of the 2018/19 season and has been a permanent feature in all formats of the club's A1 side. Although, he didn't have the consistent season he was hoping for his highlight of the season was his match winning knock against Goodwood in Round 6. 22.01.2022 PLAYER SPONSOR ANNOUNCEMENT On behalf of the Para Hills Cricket Club we would love to thank Premier Gas & Plumbing for the support of one of our newest cricketers, Rob Mccard. Rob arrived at the Para Hills Cricket Club this season to help enhance our chances for success at the A grade level, with a cricket resumé to be envied, Rob has thus far proved to be incredibly important to our strong start to the season. ... Although from Darwin and fond of a craft beer, Rob isn't actually that bad a bloke. He has fit in well to our culture and we look forward to a strong finish to the season. Now as per usual a few facts about Rob. A) Rob comes from a hugely successful family of camel breeders, trainers and jockeys, the main straight of the July camel races at Blatherskite Park in Alice Springs is named after the Mccard family and its only due to Robs inability to tame your average camel that he didn't end up in the family business. B) Rob has so far played for 29 clubs as per mycricket. His loyalty in amateur ranks is undoubted and we expect to have him for at least 3 more games if we are lucky. C) Rob manages the second largest Reece Plumbing in the state, often this site is chaotic for waste collection drivers who are trying to complete their job effectively. Rob is also a poor site manager. D) Rob helps train monkeys for a largely unknown charity called Helping Hands Monkey Helpers. You can see the great work they do here https://monkeyhelpers.org/ Also feel free to arrange a time to visit the plethora of monkeys Rob has through his house during the training season. E) Last but not least, in case you haven't noticed Rob has many tattoo's, but one of these is more Important than the others, its a tattoo of William Shatner 'deep in thought' from this tattoo a dream bubble is shown coming from Shatner's head, inside the bubble would you believe is William Shatner with a moustache. Its so beautifully confusing from the outset and It is there to remind Rob how much he loves William Shatner. Many thanks again to Premier Gas & Plumbing, we love the support shown to our players and hope our loyal members show support in return to these wonderful businesses.
22.01.2022 Flashback to Nov 2000 of our A2 Premiership year. Hard work with bat after a late start on a wetty against the second best bowling attack in the grade and posting 126. Hartog and Smith were the best with the bat. Overnight we managed to have them 3/57 at close of day 1 after they'd faced 21 overs, D. Buckley a couple wickets and Clemo 1fa. Unfortunately on Day 2 we couldn't defend our wk1 total of 126 but Clems 5/79 off 24 overs a herculean effort was well supported by Boxy and Bucks. Ferryden Park managing to post 204. Smithy, Box and Matty came in for some second innings runs and finishing up on 8/139.

02.01.2022 Our usual Sunday session has been a bit slack lately since we started the season & with the O50’s not not playing today, we thought it a great opportunity to fo...cus on one of our real SAVCA Over 60’s champions. Enjoy this article we found about Greg Quinn. Article from The Advertiser, written by Daniela Abbracciavento, December 14, 2018. GREG Quinn was brought to his knees while batting during a local cricket match but not in celebration. He was suffering a heart attack. Now, just 14 months later, Quinn has recovered and will captain the Australian over-60s side when it tours New Zealand in February The wicketkeeper and member of Turf club Goodwood’s LO3 team spent 10 days in hospital and had two-and-a-half stents inserted, but returned to the pitch by Christmas. Goodwood cricketer Greg Quinn had a heart attack about 14 months ago, but is back fitter than ever and will captain Australia’s over-60s cricket team in New Zealand. The 64-year-old is proud of how far he has come since having the heart attack and is keen to lead the Aussies against the Kiwis next year. It was the first game of last summer, I was batting and I was 62 not out, but I felt a bit funny, Quinn, of Holden Hill, says. I went down on one knee and the next thing I knew I was chewing grass. The boys kept me awake and rang the ambulance. Within eight minutes the ambulance was on the field and they got me into the back. I wouldn’t let the driver leave until the game was finished. I needed to know the result. of the game. Being able to represent my country is something I’m really proud of. It’s a great honour. Greg Quinn was the only South Australian in the Australian over-60s cricket squad in 2016. Next year, he will captain the national over-60s side when it tours New Zealand. Sporting prowess is in Quinn’s genes. Quinn’s father was the late Port Adelaide football great and dual Magarey Medallist Bob Quinn. His uncle, Charlie Walker, was a wicketkeeper in 109 first-class matches and a teammate of Don Bradman in Australian squads that toured England in 1930 and 1938 but never made his Test debut. Quinn himself featured in more than 450 grade matches, including 199 in the As, won the competition’s wicketkeeping trophy named after Walker seven times, featured in one state second XI game and played for East Torrens until he was 50. He has made 14 Test appearances for Australia’s over-60s since making his debut three years ago in an Ashes series. Sporting prowess is in Greg Quinn’s genes, given his father, Bob Quinn played for Port Adelaide and helped lead the club to a SANFL premiership in 1939. Cricket does mean a lot to me, I have been a cricketer virtually all my life, he says. To turn 60 and still be able to play for Australia is fantastic. The Australian over-60s team will play three Test matches and four other games against New Zealand in 17 days. Quinn says he is able to continue playing because he has the support of his wife, Pru, 54, and son Mitchell, 25, who plays for the East Torrens second-grade team. I have quite a good competition against my son about bragging rights and I enjoy the banter I have with him, Quinn says. Pru knows how much I love cricket and how important it is to me.
