25.01.2022 Pretty AMAY-ZIN! Zinfandel, one of California's favourite red wine grapes, actually shares the same DNA as the sexy sounding Italian varietal Primitivo and not so sexy sounding Croatian varietal, Tribidrag. Here in Australia, Zinfandel has been on the rise since the turn of the century and in true Aussie style, we’re happy to make either Zinfandel or Primitivo at our leisure. Needless to say, Tribidrag hasn’t yet got a gig!... Today is #NationalZinfandelDay and to celebrate, we’re opening a bottle (or two) of Kangarilla Road Winery Zin! (or maybe more given South Australia's 6 day lockdown Stay safe people!)

10.01.2022 It's been a while since we've shared some client work, so we are eager to show you what we have been doing Wicks Estate cool climate premium wines have grown to be recognised as some of the finest the Adelaide Hills have to offer. In 2018 we began working with the Wicks family, and market research and trade interviews showed that Wicks Estate's brand and livery were seen as "old fashioned" and not representative of the quality exhibited in the wines. The brand suffered low a...wareness and had little uptake amongst younger females. A rebrand of the entry level wines ensued (we'll save that story for another time), but at the time was not extended to their iconic Sparkling, Pamela. A traditional method Sparkling, Pamela is dedicated to the founders' mum. The new Wicks identity and packaging features a strong signature "W" chevron pattern and classic typographic language which we extended to Pamela. The colour palette needed to cut through a crowded shelf and is inspired by Pamela's favourite colours. A custom embossed hood, neck label and additional embellishments further evoke prestige and finesse, just like the wine and the woman. --- Client: Wicks Estate Wines Photography: Lewi Potter Photography (Photos 1, 4 and 5) and SlingShot Studios (Photos 2 and 3) Label: Label Partners Hood: Enoplastic Australia

03.01.2022 WORK WEDNESDAY: ORBIS WINES Orbis is a new wine brand owned by Brad Moyes and Kendall Grey. First planted by the Rycrofts and then the Leask and Hardy families in the 1960s and 70s, Brad and Kendall’s vineyard is one of the highest and coolest in McLaren Valeideal for growing premium organic grapes. Under the expert direction of Richard Leask, they employ regenerative, or circular, farming practices. This means everything the vineyard needs to maintain natural fertility and ...good drainage, comes from the vineyard itself. In the winter months sheep roam freely, controlling weeds and undergrowth, and adding nitrogen, good bacteria and carbon to the soil, creating natural fertility. Timber is sustainably grown on site to provide shelter, posts for the vineyard and materials for the construction of the on-site winery and facilities. Wood waste, grape skins, stalks and seeds are all composted to return nutrients to the vineyard. Winemakers Sam Smith and Nick Dugmore then take Brad and Kendall's organic crop and turn it into clean, living wines on-site, using indigenous yeasts and completely free of sulphur. The brand name developed for the business, Orbis, means circular motion. Combined with the mythical Ouroboros, symbolizing the eternal cycle of renewal, the new brand and packaging perfectly describes Brad and Kendall’s missionleaving the world a better place than they found it. The Orbis website features elegant scrolling interactions, reflects the brand while educating its visitors.
