19.01.2022 My Great Uncle Spencer Lane Schocroft and his brother Charles Sidney Schocroft fought in World War 1, Spencer was wounded and died on a hospital ship off the coast of Gallipoli in 1915. Charles survived and went on to fight in World War 2. Both were distinguished in their military lives with Charles having been awarded a distinguished services medal. My Grandfather also served in World War 2 for Britain in submarines. He survived and immigrated to Australia in 1966. While o...n tour in the sub he visited Tasmania and his sub is pictured here travelling down the Tamar river.....Lest we forget. (from virtual war memorial) Private Spencer Lane Schocroft died of wounds on August 13. He was the sixth son of Mr. William Edward Schocroft, of Piccadilly, near Mount Lofty, where he was born on December 23, 1893. During the major portion of the past five years he was away from home, being most of the time at Stansbury, where he was employed in agricultural pursuits. He left for the front shortly before Christmas with the 9th Light Horse. An elder brother, Charles Sydney Schocroft, is in camp at the Exhibition Ground. Private S. L. Schocroft was tall and well proportioned, and was a good, hardworking young man and weil liked." Charles Sidney Schocroft - In his time serving abroad, Schocroft, was given mentions in dispatches and he was also rewarded with awards and honours for the bravery and courage he showed while serving for his country. William Edward Schocroft received a letter from the Major from Charles’ battalion informing him that Charles had been rewarded with a Distinguished Conduct Medal for gallantry and devotion to duty by saving several animals and one man from being bogged in mud. He then carried them over half a mile on heavy ground to safety. They were under heavy gunfire at the time and the bravery that Charles showed was unbelievable. This was a fine example to his men. This occurred on the 25th July, 1918. https://vwma.org.au/explore/people/106752 https://vwma.org.au/explore/people/573089

16.01.2022 Who else is stuck somewhere because of Covid? I'm in Melbourne supporting family and so therefore will be stuck here for the foreseeable future. Fortunately I switched my business and projects online and work pretty easily from anywhere. I feel like the Spiritus Mundi or the universal energy of human beings is in a perilous state. This can lead some pretty dire situations with mental health and people's general well being. I know it's been struggle for me a bit as I recover f...rom some struggles I have had this past year so I can only imagine what it's like for others. Especially those who have lost loved ones. This is a truly sad and tragic time for many people, for that I send love to you and hope you find peace one day. You are all in our thoughts. Feel free to reach out and say hi anytime, I am going to be try to be more attentive to this page as much as I can. Try to keep safe and well. Peace and Love - Para Tas. See more
