24.01.2022 Its been a big year for Blair Shaddock. He only turned 17 a few weeks ago, and yesterday hit another milestone when he passed his Recreational Pilot Licence test with flying colours! Blairs career goal is to be an airline pilot, and this is the first big step on the path to achieving this. Go Blair!

23.01.2022 Back in November we had 30 students from Immaculate Heart join us here at Cambridge for an excursion, and it was lovely to meet so many enthusiastic young pilots-in-the-making! We just received an excellent work of art from Immaculate Heart in our inbox, and it was too cute not to share!

23.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who attended our Open Day on Saturday! We enjoyed meeting many aviation enthusiasts and we’re looking forward to having some of you back as students when our next intake commences!

23.01.2022 Can you see yourself here? Our student pilots learn and train in the most pristine and varied environment Australia has to offer. This snap from Alex Hindley (instagram.com/middle_hindley) is a great example of the sights you’ll encounter as you gain experience!

23.01.2022 Another CPL graduate ending the year on a high: well done to Nick Potgieter!

23.01.2022 One of our regularly scheduled fire safety training sessions, an essential skill, and one we take very seriously

22.01.2022 Well done to Jess Tanner, who achieved her Multi-Engine Aircraft Class Rating this week! This particular qualification covers all aspects of operating a larger multi-engine aeroplane, and is a course students often choose to add on after they've achieved their PPL or CPL.

22.01.2022 We’re busy getting ready for our Open Day on Saturday, will you be joining us?

22.01.2022 Where else can you fly over snow-dusted mountains in the morning and then tropical-looking coastline in the afternoon? Tassie’s truly unrivalled for varied weather conditions! Flight instructor Gavin snapped these shots within hours of each other

22.01.2022 We had 30 kindergarten students from Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School - Lenah Valley join us today! Our flight training students - Manoj, Alham, Bec, Jack, and Mitch - took them on a tour, showed them our aircraft, and we had a super-fun paper plane challenge. Lovely to meet so many enthusiastic young pilots-in-the-making!

22.01.2022 A big congratulations to Chris Harvey for obtaining his Instrument Rating!

21.01.2022 When you learn to fly with Par Avion Flight Training, youll encounter some of the most unique terrain and weather in Australia just one of the reasons our students choose PAFT

21.01.2022 Look out, Australia! Now that restrictions on non-essential travellers to the mainland have been lifted, we're able to stretch our wings and resume navigation exercises beyond our island state! Last week's route took students from Cambridge to Wynyard Mt Gambier Coonawarra Naracoorte Mt Gambier Warrnambool Wynyard, then they returned to Cambridge.

21.01.2022 Dear Hobart aircrew / ATCs With the borders now open to the ACT, I will resume my monthly DAME clinics at the aero club. My next clinic will be on Sunday 15th ...November. Be aware that a CASA exemption is till in effect that allows you to continue to operate with your previously expired medical certificate until March 2021 if for COVID reasons you are unable to see a DAME. As I don't expect there will be enough hours in the day on 15th November to see 9 months worth of pilots, I would think it reasonable to continue to fly on the basis of the exemption for the meantime unless your company deems it necessary to have a fresh medical. On the other hand don't leave it till March as because your medical certificate has expired, I cannot issue the usual 2 month revalidation! Give me a bell ASAP if you want to be seen on 15 Nov as the clinic is already half booked. I expect to make trips monthly ongoing and will co-opt Dr Jeremy if needs be. Fly safe Dr Dave

21.01.2022 Theres still plenty of career opportunities in the aviation industry, even during this disrupted year this role looks interesting for anyone looking to relocate to the Northern Territory:

08.01.2022 We asked Chief Pilot and Senior Instructor Kayle Overton to share some of his thoughts on what led him to a career as an instructor, heres what he had to say: _________________ Where did you complete your CPL?... General Flying Services Moorabbin Airport Where did you complete your Instructor Rating? Here at Par Avion Flight Training Why did you want to become an instructor? I thought I would enjoy teaching people, and it would improve my flying skills and knowledge (I was right, I do enjoy teaching people!) What is your favourite subject that you like to teach? Aerodynamics What are the aspects you find the most challenging about being an instructor? Trying to teach students who are poorly prepared for their lesson What is your favourite thing about being an instructor? Seeing people achieve their goals and progress their aviation careers What would you say to others thinking about a career as a flight instructor? Teaching people to fly is very rewarding, provided you are doing it because you enjoy helping people to learn, not just to get hours in your logbook Favourite aircraft? The space shuttle _________________ We asked Kayle to share an image that had special significance, and he gave us this photo from a recent Southwest flight with Pam, the midwife who delivered him as a baby!

08.01.2022 Congratulations to Kyle Rossendell, who achieved his PPL last week, and enjoyed stunning weather for his first flight as a qualified pilot!

07.01.2022 We asked Flight Instructor & Line Pilot Channing Kramer to share some of his thoughts on what led him to a career as an instructor, heres what he had to say: ________________ Where did you complete your CPL? ... UNSW. Finished in 2013 Where did you complete your Instructor Rating? CAE Oxford. Finished in August 2015 Why did you want to become an instructor? Had a rough time as a student at UNSW. Instructor kept yelling at everything. So I decided I would become an instructor to prevent my students from going through what I went through! What is your favourite subject that you like to teach? Meteorology What are the aspects you find the most challenging about being an instructor? Conveying your ideas across in a multitude of different ways if the student doesnt understand the first time. What is your favourite thing about being an instructor? Seeing the look on my students faces when something they have struggled to understand, finally becomes clear. Like a lightbulb moment. Or when a student passes their flight test and theyre happy. What would you say to others thinking about a career as a flight instructor? You need to ensure that you are committed to being an instructor and not doing it just for building hours. Instruction is a lot of work and can get quite hard. Plus, if you dont care, its unfair on the student who is relying on you to teach them. Favourite aircraft? Aesthetically -> Airbus A330 Overall -> Boeing 747-400 That I have flown -> Cessna 404 Titan ____________ If youre interested in a career in aviation, dont forget were holding an open day in October! No two students are the same, so its a challenge needing to learn different teaching methods for different types of people. What is your favourite thing about being an instructor? The satisfaction of getting a student through a rough patch and achieving their goals. What would you say to others thinking about a career as a flight instructor? If you think your knowledge is good now, just wait until you become an instructor and youll realise how little you knew before, and how much more there is to learn. Favourite aircraft? Concorde. Bring back supersonic passenger flight! ________________ Are you interested in a career in aviation like Jeremy? Were still taking enrolments at all levels of experience.
