That being said, you can grow a tree indoors in a pot filled with good quality, well-drained potting soil. Growing Conditions: The Neem is a hardy tree that can tolerate temperatures up to 50 C. However, extended cool weather with temperatures below 5 C will cause the tree to drop its leaves. Ours lost their leaves but grew some more lush ones in Spring. Neem trees require plenty of bright sunlight. The trees benefit from regular moisture, but be careful not to overwater, as the tree won’t tolerate wet feet or poorly drained soil. Allow the soil to dry between every watering. They benefit from feed of fertiliser at least once per month in Spring & Summer (we use natural products such as dynamic lifter, Seasol slow release pellets & blood and bone). The Neem tree is known to tolerate poor growing conditions and drought-prone soil. Health & other Benefits: Please do your own research before using or ingesting any parts of a plant. PRICE: $14 ea 1-2 Plants $12 ea 3-5 Plants Limited Stock available Plants have been grown from seeds collected from our mother plants locally so grown to our local conditions & not kept in a shade house. They apparently will happily grow in full sun. Here we have them in morning sun, dappled sun or indirect sun for the rest of the day. Canna edulis is a perennial root crop also known as Achira or here in Australia as Queensland Arrowroot. It is unknown where the Queensland name came from as the plant originated from South America. The rare form that we have available is known as 'Rojo' and are quite stunning with their large attractive foliage with dark red-edged leaves and veins. The orange-red flowers are small compared to ornamental Canna hybrids. They can grow up to 2 meters plus in full sun or part shade in damp soils and it spreads underground via rhizomes to form large clumps even in poor soils. GROWING CONDITIONS: It is a clump-forming perennial plant. The top growth tolerates light frosts and plants can be grown in areas with winter snow as long as the rhizomes are harvested in late autumn after the top growth has been killed back by frost and stored over winter. Ours did not die back over winter but was kept in a sheltered position, away from direct frost. It requires a warm sunny position; growth is much slower in cold areas. USES: The tubers are best harvested to eat when still small, about the size of a tennis ball and the skin is still white. They can be used all year round, as a potato substitute. Peel the tubers and cut them into chips or cut them into cubes that then they can be added to soups, or steamed like potatoes, until tender. Young tubers have the best flavour, older ones are fibrous. Arrowroot flour which is Gluten Free (The lack of gluten in arrowroot flour makes it ideal as a replacement for wheat flour in baking) can be made from the rhizomes and the flour keeps well and can be used as a thickener. The rhizome has a high potassium content and 1-3% protein; the young leaves and shoots are nutritious and contain 10% protein. The immature seeds and young shoots can be eaten as well. PERMACULTURE USES: It is commonly used in Permaculture designs as a windbreak, as chop and drop mulch, as fodder for pigs, goats, cows, donkeys, and possibly chickens; tubers can be cooked and fed to pigs. #chemicalfree

04.01.2022 Remove Stains From Working/Gardening Hands & Nails Naturally. Like me, do you love getting into the gardens, potting up and pulling weeds? Dislike that it's hard on your hands & often leaves dirt stains that are extremely hard to remove? Look no further than a fresh cut lemon or a bottle of lemon juice from your local shop. Lemon juice not only fades stains, it softens your skin. Directions:... Wash hands with soap and/or nail brush to remove most of the dirt. Dry hands to remove unwanted water dilution. I always find after just the first treatment above, I have greenish-brown stains left. Squirt & or pour a small amount of lemon juice directly on your fingernails & hands. Rub them together a little, and let it remain there. Be mindful if you have cuts, as it's not kind, but the stinging is temporary. You should see the stains fade out right before your eyes. Repeat if necessary. #pardalotepatch #naturalremedies
