24.01.2022 If your child's having a tantrum, calm them down with these mesmerising jars. For younger children use plastic jars or bottles and seal shut with tape or glue. #MumWins

23.01.2022 So this is what it looks like just before 52 parents arrive to learn more about supporting their anxious 4-12 year olds! The feedback from this school based workshop was overwhelmingly positive, and if you would like the session at your child’s school, let us know, we will do the rest @parentingplus #handlinganxiety #anxiouskids #parentinggamestrong #parentingcourses #helpingparentsfindanswers #creatingresilientkids #hobartparentingcourse

23.01.2022 While parents should never feel guilty about their children using screens, there are certainly things parents need to do and understand in relation to their children use of both screens and various games, apps and social media as they grow. We can help parents to understand that all screen time is not equal, how to use parental controls, and pick up on behaviours that may be a cause for concern.

20.01.2022 This advice to get devices out of bathrooms, out of bedrooms is SOOooo important for parents...we are attending 'Grandparents Day' at a local girls school next week, and will make sure we talk about this with all the nanas and grandads too!

17.01.2022 Breaking news, the Tasmanian government has taken a strong stance on the use of mobile phones in schools, with no mobile phone use between the starting and finishing times.

14.01.2022 So interesting to be reminded of the power of reading, and the distinct disadvantage of starting school with little experience of being regularly read to. This episode of Four Corners presents some compelling facts about the value of two sided conversations, strong warm relationships with key carers, and immersing children in the spoken language... not to forget outdoor play - with other little people! Catch it on iView!

13.01.2022 We just listened to an interesting panel discussion on ABC show The Drum about a plan in China to restrict computer game use of under 18 year olds. It was interesting to hear each panelist openly declare that their child’s technology habit was the single greatest issue they were grappling with. It’s a real thing.....and we can help. Just contact us through our page for more.

12.01.2022 Please get in touch if you would like a presentation at your Hobart and surrounding area school.

12.01.2022 Wonderful wisdom from Dr Vanessa Lapointe, R Psych! Need some guidance on how to grow a good human? Read more here: https://parenttv.com/blog/a-guide-to-raising-good-humans/

11.01.2022 We don’t demonise digital devices but we DO suggest parents impose very clear limits for children up to two years of age. For every minute spent on a device, a young child is NOT doing something else that is developmentally important. Technology can be benign at best, but it does not replace human to human interaction. It does not provide a young child with important feedback, comfort and validation. Never rush your children through their childhood, they need to experience as much of it as possible. 11.01.2022 While it’s hard to get results of longitudinal studies on a fairly new phenomenon, we urge parents to heed the warnings on excessive and unsupervised screen exposure for young children.

10.01.2022 Support from a prominent child psychologist!

09.01.2022 Great reminder of the importance of regular bedtime for little people.

07.01.2022 So true! Parents who have separated and share their child raising role sometimes felt they can’t give their child as much as the other parent. The thing that children need most is free...it is your time!

04.01.2022 This is a popular App which isn’t quite as innocent as it purports to be. If your child is into Tik Tok you might listen to one of Australia’s cyber safety experts views about it.

04.01.2022 Kristy Goodwin is always the voice of reason. As a mum to young children she knows how to keep it real.

03.01.2022 Great advice from the wise man MCG

03.01.2022 Stymie is not well known, even in schools we have visited. It’s great to see they have been recognised for their approach to cyber bullying.

02.01.2022 Are you able to help with a study regarding kids and technology? Does your child look at your phone? Or an iPad/tablet? Do you ever wonder why they are so attac...hed to screens? And do you use screens to help you manage your children? The University of Technology Sydney are running a national research project into parenting, children’s screen time and their development. This research will help us work out how we use screens with our kids and how to use them to get the best outcomes for our kids. If your child is born between 31/12/2013 to 28/2/2015, the study organisers would like to hear from you! They would like to ask you some questions at two time points one year apart. The questions take 20-30 minutes to complete and all participants go into a draw to win 1 in 4 $100 Coles Myer gift cards at each time point. Head to: https://bit.ly/st_survey19

02.01.2022 We ran two school based workshops today and the topic of ‘gaming’ was thoroughly discussed. This article picks up on lots of the things we touched on, including how you help your child to transition away from their device after an acceptable agreed period of time.
