24.01.2022 Kangaroo Island Have you been to KI? We would love to hear if you have been & your favorite places to visit... KI was hit hard during the recent bushfires and many local businesses are suffering. The beautiful Flinders Chase Farm on the West End of KI unfortunately lost all of their accommodation and are unable to rebuild. We have enjoyed our time spent here over the years and will cherish the memories. ... We have upcoming 2020 tours to KI, it is important to us that these trips go ahead to support the community. Our itinerary will change slightly, this may involve a few nights off the island staying at neighbouring towns. We would love to hear your suggestions! Our thoughts go out to all of those affected

23.01.2022 Lets hear from our bubbly, eco warrior, Tassie guide Zane -

22.01.2022 Tours on hold - an important message from Park Trek This week has been very difficult (to say the least), for Park Trek. Our 30 guides and office team have been impacted beyond belief. This year Park Trek celebrates 20 years in business, but in the last 20 hours there has been very little to celebrate. We are working through emails, phone calls and social media requests from many of you I just ask for your understanding and patience during this time.... Now, down to the business side of things Following the most recent advice from the Government surrounding Coronavirus, we will be postponing all tours effective 20 March until the end of April. If you are travelling with us during this time you will receive a travel credit to be used at a later date on any of our domestic tours and will receive an email about this direct from us. Whilst our tours are not directly impacted by the recent distancing announcements and the government still deems domestic air travel low risk, we understand many of our guests have concern traveling at this time. We will continue to closely monitor the situation over the next few weeks and respond, with speed, to any changes. This has not been an easy decision to make and we appreciate all the support from guests, employees and partners that are also feeling the impact of this worldwide situation. My advice is to hop onto our website and look at dates for the destination you are keen to visit it may be the same as the tour you are booked on, or it may be a totally different location, the choice is yours. Then you need to email us and tell us when you would like to move to. We can then go through the process to confirm this move. Please understand we will have limited capacity to talk over the phone so email is the best option to communicate with us. As an Australian owned small family business, the health and wellbeing of our guests and staff remain priority. We need to not only allow staff and their families to self-isolate if necessary, but also protect the future of Park Trek Walking Holidays. We are yet to make a decision regarding the running of May onward tours and this may not be a decision we are in control of. However we will provide an update as and when a decision is made. The situation is changing daily and we feel its best to wait at this time before we make any changes. Again, we appreciate your patience and understand during this time. For all postponed tours, we will provide a travel credit to be used up until June 2021. Our office team has currently scaled back, therefore if you wish to contact us, please do so by email and we will endeavor to respond as quickly as we can. These are difficult times for everyone. We thank all of our customers for their support over the past 20 years and look forward to getting back on tour and out into the great Australian wilderness. Ingrid Director - Park Trek

22.01.2022 We are unable to explore some of Australias most beautiful walking destinations at the moment, and the lack of freedom will feel overwhelming for some people. Its important to keep active during this challenging time. Not only for our physical health, but to also support and nourish our emotional wellbeing and mental health. We wanted to share how Park Trek staff are staying fit... To kick things off, lets hear from our wonderful Director. ... How are you keeping active Ingrid? Thank you to Stacey from Sea Change Fitness for offering online training during this time

04.01.2022 An update from Park Trek Walking Holidays We are conducting all upcoming Park Trek domestic walking tours. As is the rest of the country, we are of course closely monitoring the situation and advice from government and will be in touch with guests and our suppliers if there are any changes that apply to our tours.... As you will be aware there are no domestic travel restrictions and as our group tours are max of 10 guests walking in wilderness and national park areas in small group accommodation we think the remote areas of the great outdoors isnt a bad place to be! We have taken steps to increase the hygiene of our operations to include, additional washing of hands on tour, disinfecting bus surfaces after each use and ensuring we limit our interactions with public facility services. We have also reached out to all our accommodation and activity providers to ensure they are doing the same. As of the 16th March 2020, the Australian Government has advised all travellers who have entered the country from an overseas destination to self-isolate for two weeks. So anyone who fits into this category will not be on a tour. Unless travel advice from the government changes we will be running as per usual. We are of course monitoring COVID-19 situation and will advise guests if there are any government led changes that would affect the running of our tours. We appreciate your support in what is a difficult time for everybody.

04.01.2022 Our long term Mainland guide Andrew is making the most of the time at home. Hes been busy extending and renovating his home... We love hearing what our team are doing during this time, we hope you do too!

02.01.2022 Today we hear from one of our wonderful Tassie guides, Nick. How are you keeping ISO Fit? Its been pretty hard to get motivated to do activities that are outside your normal rhythm or routine for sure. But once I realised national parks and reserves were likely to be shut for a long while - it kind of ripped off the bandaid and you realise you have no other choice if you want to stay in shape until this is all over.... Nick sadly sold his home bouldering/climbing wall when he last moved house. A sneaky message to the new owner was sent- but they didnt want to part ways with it, unfortunately. (see image) Ive been trying to get out for a run at least a few times a week, but it took a few sessions to warm back into it! Thankfully the Cataract Gorge Reserve is still open for recreation and is just as stunning as ever. This has been my go to local. There is a great network of trails for ongoing variety, with plenty of hills. Were so lucky in Launceston to have this on our doorstep in the middle of the city! Nick has been attempting to stretch more often, and is having a crack at a 100 pushups + sit-ups per day challenge - WHOA! Something Nick and his housemate threw at each other. The front veranda is still nice and sunny in the mornings even though were now heading into the cooler months. The wood grips are good for hang strength training, but are ridiculously hard for pull-ups! Some days feel overly easier than others (for whatever reason), and Ive kind of accepted that at times youre just not going to be in the right headspace for much at all. This means just making the most of those good motivation days when they do come about. Something we all can all relate to Im sure! Im definitely grateful for the encouragement and support from my housemates, and feel lucky that even Tassies urban parks are full of natural wonder. In saying that though - Ill never be taking the mountains for granted again thats for sure! Very excited for our parks to reopen when they eventually do A huge thank you to our amazing guide Nick for giving us some insight into how he is keeping active during this time.

02.01.2022 Snap up the last Three Capes and Tasman places for early 2021. 02.01.2022 We may not be able to explore our beautiful country at the moment, so lets take a moment to share our favorite walking destinations... We would love to hear about your favorite place to walk, why this destination has caputred your heart, and we would love to see photos youve taken there!

01.01.2022 HIKING THROUGH THE NORTHERN FLINDERS RANGES for 9 days with a camel train is an experience of a lifetime. We are fortunate to partner with the amazing Flinders and Beyond Camel Treks to run these special hikes in spring and autumn each year. Wed like you to meet the people behind the business and share what theyve been doing to keep busy during self isolation. ... Ryan is an incredibly knowledgeable cameleer and Natalie is the business organiser and office support. They live near Blinman in remote South Australia with their young son Thomas and have a new addition arriving later this year. With the March to May tours cancelled this year, Natalie says they have been enjoying family time and appreciating the abundance of local wildlife. Self isolation is relatively easy to do in the Northern Flinders Ranges, she jokes. It has given us plenty of time to complete some home renovation projects. Weve also been doing equipment maintenance like sewing camel saddles and working on camel gear. The camels are having an extended summer holiday in their paddock and have enjoyed being pampered and hand fed by little Thomas. As travel restrictions begin to ease, we look forward to working with the family to offer camel treks in September and October this year and into 2020. If youd like to join us or find out more check out the tour here: https://www.parktrek.com.au/flinders-ranges-with-camels-9-/
